Re: Cup round 3 draw
If a player was sent off in the last cup round, does that exclude them from this round? Or is the suspension aloud to be served in a league fixture does anyone know?

Its a tough one, you lose and then have to accuse a team that they played they played illegal players, sounds like sour grapes. Should be a League thing (But clubs shouldn't try to manipulate either)haywood djablowme wrote:Obvioulsy Downs didnt challenge their reserves Cup result..?? Pumas got up on their challenge!

It's interesting because if Maiwand continue to progress it could become embarrassing or the SAASL if NPL players keep turning out for them right up the final.LRO wrote:Its a tough one, you lose and then have to accuse a team that they played they played illegal players, sounds like sour grapes. No professionals playing in the Reserves Cup! I wonder how the big Sunday teams would fare if you removed them from the Challenge Cup too?Chaos wrote:Funny that....swannsong wrote:No Saturday sides left in the Challenge Cup whilst there are 5 Saturday sides remaining in the Reserves Cup.

There are no professionals playing in our local league - amateurs or federation - the only professionals playing are in the A league. Our local players play for the love of the game and for some pocket money only.Orde Wingate wrote:No professionals playing in the Reserves Cup! Re: Cup round 3 draw
old issue but would be good to see the league do the draw straight away, no reason why it cant be done. teams can then have time to view their opponents strengths and weaknesses.

You can’t be a little bit pregnant. I think the league would be better off if all paid players and/or Clubs that offer money took their love of the game to the Federation leagues.

Want some cheese with your whine....?
Seriously just deal with it - there will always be bigger and stronger clubs and there will always be cup upsets - that's what cup football is about - similar clubs with similar type resources tend to be in the same league and that is exactly why they're called 'leagues'. Believe it or not there are some clubs and players that enjoy the challenge of going up against larger teams/clubs.....

And maybe some of those Clubs and paid players would enjoy the challenge of going up against larger Federation teams/Clubs. Our league has Divisions, most of which are contested by amateur players, and a couple of which include paid players. I know it has been like that for years and the horse has probably bolted, but that doesn’t mean it is the best long term set up for amateur football in SA, particularly for home and away comps.

There is nothing stopping those clubs or even players going to Feds.. they choose to play amateurs... most of the clubs in the higher divs would be paying their players or some of their players.. it is how it is... no different in any league around the world.. usually the clubs with more money are consistently playing higher divs..
If clubs want to match it with these teams the they should be chasing sponsorship money so they can atttact the better players.. not whinge about how unfair it is...
I cherish playing more favoured opponents.. its the attractuon of the cup.
