Re: Derby weekend
Yes it was certainly disappointing but Liverpool will be happy with the point away from home, particularly as they rested players and Everton missed two glaring chances at the end. Sometimes big matches don't live up to the hype and this was one of them. Only positives for me were the commitment of the players getting stuck in and sensible refereeing. Other than that a game to forget.N5 1BH wrote:Well the scouse one was a load of shite

Re: Derby weekend
Whereas the Mancunian one looked to be a great game, albeit with a poor result. Mind you, that looked to be largely due to the referee not giving two clear (in the modern game) penalties against Ashley Young. The Mourinho effect perhaps?N5 1BH wrote:Well the scouse one was a load of shite

2 clear ? you mean the first incident where hes fallen / slipped over in the 6 yard box and the balls rolled over his hand ? has to be deliberate to be a penalty ...Nice One Cyril wrote:Whereas the Mancunian one looked to be a great game, albeit with a poor result. the second incident is debatable , he wins the ball imo ... studs weren't raised from what I seen .. ref had a very good view of it aswell .

Re: Derby weekend
Hence the reason I put "in the modern game" for the handball. Is is deliberate when a defender's arms are by his side or the ball bounces into them? Not in a million years, but lots of them get given.pannafc wrote:2 clear ? you mean the first incident where hes fallen / slipped over in the 6 yard box and the balls rolled over his hand ? has to be deliberate to be a penalty ...Nice One Cyril wrote:Whereas the Mancunian one looked to be a great game, albeit with a poor result. As for the 'tackle', if you don't think that was a foul, you need to visit SpecSavers.

Rather large coincidence if it was.N5 1BH wrote:Not sure it was an initiative, more a coincidence. If they did borrow from the A league though would it then be the ‘Dirby weekend’

I could only find 3 fixtures that could classify as derbies in that last round.God is an Englishman wrote:Rather large coincidence if it was.N5 1BH wrote:Not sure it was an initiative, more a coincidence. If they did borrow from the A league though would it then be the ‘Dirby weekend’

I think they schedule it deliberately because of the travel over the Easter weekend.God is an Englishman wrote:3 is a large coincidence isn't? The 3 largest footballing cities in England all having one.Bomber wrote:I could only find 3 fixtures that could classify as derbies in that last round.
Who would be Millwall's closest team, Charlton? If they get promoted or West Ham go down you can have your own derby games.

Re: Derby weekend
Just about every week you'll find some derbies around the place.God is an Englishman wrote:

If, for example, West Brom played Stoke, Arsenal played Spurs, Brighton played Bournemouth (or Southampton) as well, then you could call it a derby weekend.

I would say only one of those is a derby.Bomber wrote:Just about every week you'll find some derbies around the place.God is an Englishman wrote:
