Re: New Socceroos coach?
So, Ange has been spotted in Asia sniffing around a few clubs, eh ? More time with the "family" ? Turning his back on his so called country to chase even more money. Well, what else do you expect from his kind?

His kind? Who are you referring to there?B.Toomer wrote:So, Ange has been spotted in Asia sniffing around a few clubs, eh ? More time with the "family" ? Turning his back on his so called country to chase even more money. Well, what else do you expect from his kind?
Ange never said he was stepping down for those reasons.
'I just have an instinct, I think it's the right time for me, the right time for the organisation' he said. 'And that, as tough a decision as it is for me, it feels like the right time. I have loved this job but it's been all-encompassing, and it hasn't just been coaching the national team - the part I love is the coaching'
He stated ambitions to return to coaching overseas also. Just making stuff up to appease your own dislike for someone who finally won us a trophy.

I think Ange was a excellent coach however with such a young family,B.Toomer wrote:So, Ange has been spotted in Asia sniffing around a few clubs, eh ? More time with the "family" ? Turning his back on his so called country to chase even more money. Well, what else do you expect from his kind?
It would be hard to be away for such long periods of time and any parent would Cleary
understand this.
Hope Ange gets a great coaching gig and can move his family so they can be united while Ange continues his coaching.
I think also the power grab by A league clubs and there reluctance to free up players
for representation soccer had a part to play.

Re: New Socceroos coach?
He also spoke of his young child & how hard it was for him with his father away from home. This was during the t.v. interview on Fox, which you either didn't see or have chosen to ignore. You can contrive it any way you like, but the fact remains, he has deserted his country at a key time. He was successful in the Asian Cup & coached the Aussies to W.C. qualification so credit to him for that, but to walk out at such a critical time is simply a low act of self first.

I think ange is being very astute. its sad for me to say this but I think he knows that he couldent take them any further than he has and he has bailed out whilst on top. sorry to say this but I don't think they will win a game in Russia like the last time. sincerely I hope im wrong. my choice to pick up the poisoned chalice would be harry potter. at least he has a magic wand.

Re: New Socceroos coach?
Actually, I would prefer the job went to Millicic, for the WCF, as he knows the squad and Ange's system inside out and is respected by all the players.
Given there is so little time to introduce new ideas and players to the squad it would probably be the safer option.

Is Arnie going to take up the offer - might be a cheaper option just to cover the WC.

Re: New Socceroos coach?
Popovic is free now, he could be the short term answer for the World Cup - at least he's an Aussie.
If he performs well he could then become permanent.

Not this time, I think that he at least understands the mentality of the squad and way they react to coaches.
He is also a former Socceroo and has been successful as a player overseas, so he will know all about the issues surrounding tournaments, etc.
He is respected by a number of the squad for his A League success.
There isn't enough time for a new coach to introduce much in the way of a new style or formation, so, at least for me, Poppa is the only realistic choice for the WC.
Anything long term can be sorted out later - if you don't agree with that what , or who, is your solution?

Why are so many wogs putting their hand up for this job? Maybe as they'll at least have a team to follow in Russia?Grosso wrote:haha Grosso could see this coming a mile away
