WC qualifiers (Euro)
The Jocks almost stole it, in a crazy last 10 minutes or so. Poms virtually there now.
Polska one step closer with a nice win, thanks to a "Lewy" hat-trick.

England looking like surefire WC winners with Henderson, Sterling and Oxlade-Chamberlain dominating the midfield

Qualifying is a minimum requirement for England.God is an Englishman wrote:Qualified - Undefeated. Not sure what else people want at this stage.
An occasional performance of some note would be helpful, but I'm not holding my breath with the FA lapdog in charge. Let's see who he picks for the final game which is irrelevant, I bet it's more of the same apart from Alli returning.

Re: WC qualifiers (Euro)
I'd say QF is the minimum acceptable but I see your point. The issue though is the result is more important than the performance and we've qualified which other countries haven't.Nice One Cyril wrote:Qualifying is a minimum requirement for England.God is an Englishman wrote:Qualified - Undefeated. Polska just need a draw in last game to be certain. Home to Montenegro, not easy, but hopefully the Rumanians can do a number over Denmark same day.

Re: WC qualifiers (Euro)
I see your point, but I really think this mentality pervades the FA and we'll never win another WC unless we learn to take some risks and stop picking the same failures. Too many players have had plenty of chances and rarely played well, but Southgate lacks the cojones to dump them.God is an Englishman wrote:..... the result is more important than the performance.

Re: WC qualifiers (Euro)
Need more creativity from somewhere no doubt about that coz what we’ve been using clearly ain’t going to work. With the likes of Lallana, Wilshire, Barkley and others still out, youngsters like Tom Davies, Winks, Ward-Prowse, Loftus-Cheek & Redmund should get a run to see what they can offer. Let’s face it can’t be worse than bloody Henderson, Ox & Co…. Livermore ffs.Nice One Cyril wrote:Qualifying is a minimum requirement for England.God is an Englishman wrote:Qualified - Undefeated. Re: WC qualifiers (Euro)
I've always thought that players are forced to spend far too long in the U21s. If they put in a few decent performances there and for their clubs, get 'em in the full squad whilst they're young. Rashford, Kane, Alli will be England players for years to come and that gives you a chance to build a team environment, rather than a bunch of ageing individuals.N5 1BH wrote:Need more creativity from somewhere no doubt about that coz what we’ve been using clearly ain’t going to work. Winks and Loftus-Cheek are clearly more creative than Henderson and Sterling and I'm sure that Keane is a better defender than Stones. A brightly coloured cone would probably be more mobile.
Although he was awful in this game I actually don't mind Ox, but he's hardly played so WTF Southgate is playing at starting him I don't know.

Re: WC qualifiers (Euro)
I agree the current midfield is not creative but whilst not defending Southgate the pool of young Engish players getting game time in the EPL certainly not growing.N5 1BH wrote:Need more creativity from somewhere no doubt about that coz what we’ve been using clearly ain’t going to work. Re: WC qualifiers (Euro)
Given the last qualifying match is meaningless Southgate should call up Tammy Abraham from the under 21's and start him . Nigeria apprarently courting him to play senior football for them.N5 1BH wrote:Doesn't have to be in the EPL

Re: WC qualifiers (Euro)
I haven't seen that much of either, but I don't think strikers are our problem, we lack the capability to provide them with bullets and we're rubbish at the back. I wouldn't mind seeing your Gomez given a run out though.Nicky_Tanner wrote:Solanke is better, why don't you mention him?ozzie owl wrote:Given the last qualifying match is meaningless Southgate should call up Tammy Abraham from the under 21's and start him . Gomez is very much potential, not good enough for us yet, like Trent, but they could well make it.Nice One Cyril wrote:
