Media Coverage of the W-League.

Post by United We Stand »

I was so pleased to see the women getting some recognition in the media for a change in the last week. There were human interest articles on Lucy Adamopoulos and Dragana Kljajic, television interviews, press conferences as well as previews of the opening W-League game between the Lady Reds and Melbourne Victory. I am sure that it helped to swell the crowd who rolled up early to take in the game. I also enjoyed the game very much.

The increased media exposure for the Lady Reds continues. I just saw a Seven News Weather segment shot from a Lady Reds training session at the Elite Systems ground.

yes I saw that good to see that kind of positive exposure for the women's game.
Also saw Ch 10 do the weather from CUWFC at one last Junior training sessions, to see so many players and coaches training under lights, was a good promotion for the game.

Today the Advertiser had an article where Stella Rigon (United Captain) was interviewed about Huss Skenderovic and the style of play that he is implementing at the Lady Reds. I cannot remember an article like that written about the women's game. I am so pleased for women's football. I hope the local football community gets behind the Lady Reds and supports them in their games in Adelaide. They will need all our support as this year's W-League is the strongest yet with all the quality imports that are involved.

There was actually a match report in the Advertiser today geoff9559. Again, I have to say that this just has not happened in the past and that the women's game is getting more exposure. For the record, it was close. The United girls had chances which hit the crossbar and they conceded the winning goal late in the game.

Can anyone confirm the two players that were omitted from last week? Didn't get to see a copy of the team sheet. How did our local girls go? I love that Chidiac is playing back home.
