with adelaide hosting the AFC cup in july, it would be a fantastic idea to reschedual some of the womens premier league games and play them as curtain raisers at hindmarsh to the senior international gams. Not only wld it be great for local game promotion to not only the rest of australia but also overseas, SAWSA mite even make a pretty penny out of it if it were advertised well.

thoughts?

a GREAT IDEA

What a perfect chance to promote the local womens game! Maybe have a 2005 cup final re-match? 2005 top 2 match? hehe
But maybe have each prem club at least get one game before one of the AFC games should be good.

I think its a silly idea... there is NO way that that will even happen... maybe if it was say a national league game but even then thats pushin it.. although it will promote it, club is not played at a very high level... not a fan of the thought sorry courtz..

How about SASI squad versus SAWSA Combined Team?? Reckon that would be close to a National League Standard Game and pretty fiery encounter would be on the cards. Considering there is only likely to be one homegrown SA player in the Matildas it would be a chance for the national Selectors to have a look what livestock there is running around here. Although one would think that there would be 2 Championship games a day/night. So probably wont be necessary for any curtain raisers. ???????

That would probably be closer to the mark beaches.. the sawsa combined team could be the all star team from last year.. minus a few that would be in the sasi team.. that game would be of a higher quality than 2 sawsa teams.. BUT would they wanna keep the grass nice for the big game.. there is the possibility that the ground could get chewed up by the curtain raiser..

courtz,
absolutely sensational Idea, the game should be promoted, the feds should sieze the opportunity to correct the fundamental flaw of no game attendances at the grass roots level by promoting womens soccer to the millions of spectatators who dont even know it exists. what a magnificent concept of contrasts, local women ..........AFC international quality mens teams,........ million dollar exposure.......more kids playing....more mums and dads watching.......more money for clubs ....more success for clubs, its too hard isnt it because the cocept is too easy ......LOL
