Re: greece through to the next round

clear penalty on Samaras
Greeks deserved winners by a country mile on this match

clear penalty? you're fucking kidding yourself right?!
agree about clear chances, cross bar etc, but at 1-1 with seconds to play, cote d'ivoire were through, or so it seemed, until a shocking penalty decision.

guess that is why cote d'ivoire didn't protest too much?

protesting gets you far too. refs change their decisions all the time based on player reactions.Kosta Utd wrote:PDog wrote:clear penalty? you're bottle of shiraz kidding yourself right?!

1. you didn't see the match live
2. relays clearly show the defender hitting Samara's knee
3. whole sbs studio team unanimously agree that it was a clear foul
4. opposing team didn't protest
and you believe that you are correct and the facts above don't apply?
the word mal is right fully justified in this instance

i couldn't give a rats ass about the poms champ. nice try but.
watch the replay again, where exactly does the defender touch his knee? he kicks the ground and himself and falls over in a screaming heap. soft as butter and no integrity.

anyway back on topic, the first replay I saw I totally agree with you that it looked like Samaras tripped over his own feet but the second replay (after the match) you can clearly see that it wasn't the defenders foot that clipped samaras but his knee impeded the Greek which caused his foot to then hit the other..
clear as day, but hard to spot, have a look next time you see the replay and you will see exactly what im talking about.. as I said this was pointed out by the whole sbs panel after the match and agreed unanimously beyond any doubt

Re: greece through to the next round
i've watched it a million times - i can't see anything other than samaras swinging for a shot a goal, but he clips himself and the ground and falls over.
don't get me wrong, you take what you can get and at the end of the day, your mob are through. i'm just sick to death of seeing shit calls like being made over and over again. the refs side with the attacker more often than not, and in this portion of the field, its a pretty big call to award a penalty based on an incident where the 'contact' being made is speculation. at first glance, there is no way he could see anything like what you say happened, after a million replays i still cant see it.
maybe that's why im not a ref, but in this instance, thats no penalty. if it were the other way around you'd be screaming blue murder.

Re: greece through to the next round
so you are saying all the sbs panel are unanimously wrong? after watching the replay?
like I said I didn't see it the first replay over, but if you get a chance to see it again watch the defenders knee (not his feet) and you will see the light...
tbh, if Samaras did fall over his feet and got the penalty and scored I still would be loving it with no regrets, but in this case it was a clear penalty and I will stand by that
