Mata to United... Almost done

Post by Aurelius »

It's been widely reported that a 37m pound deal for Juan Mata to Man United has been agreed. It looks almost certain to go through now and surely would be the biggest transfer news this January.

Chelsea Perspective: Oscar, Hazard and Willan all in great form and suit the Mourinho tactic, selling Mata right now before his value is withered away on the bench is a good move. United isn't considered a title threat to Chelsea this seaon, plus they have already played United twice in the league and high unlikely to come up against them again. Even if somehow Chelsea and United meet in the Champions League Mata is cup-tied for it anyway. At United he could potentially help Chelsea by taking points off their direct rivals.

Man United Perspective: United might not need another attacking midfielder but they do need a big name signing, it serves as a statement of intent and confidence boost much like Arsenal with Ozil. Plus all signs points towards Rooney leaving in the summer and Mata could be the perfect player to fill that void.

Mata's Perspective: Needs game time before the world cup if he wants to be in the Spanish squad, United could be the perfect platform. If Rooney were to leave in the summer, with an aging RVP Mata would become the new talisman for United.

Potential Problems: How to fit Mata into the United system could be problematic, Rooney and RVP both returning from injury, if both fit you can't see Mata been played in the central role that he enjoys, but if you deploy him out wide then his lack of defensive awareness could put Evra or Rafael under even more defensive pressure. Plus this would have to mean the end for Kagawa, who surely needs a move now before the end of January if he wants to retain his starting berth for Japan.

Kagawa hasn't really fired as much as MU would have hoped this season but I partly put that down to Moyes playing him on the wing mostly.
Mata can be the attacking midfielder Rooney doesn't seem to want to be. Allowing Rooney and RvP to consistently partner one another once they eventually get fit.
Personally fan a MU fan I'm not so crash hot on them spending loads of cash on players but I am a large fan of Mata's.

I have to say though Chelsea selling him for about a £14m profit. Is this the first time ever they have made money in the transfer market?

Well that's not exactly fair, Chelsea is a buying club much like United for starters, how many players did United make a profit on? It will be one or two amongst dozens of failures. Chelsea is the same.

If they decided to cash in on Hazard l'm sure they will make a very healthy profit, same goes for players like Oscar and Lukaku etc. But they simply wouldn't want to sell.

Mata is a great player, but as long as Moyes is in charge they will continue to be disgusting.

 I see your manager is moaning (no surprise there) that they still have to play United, whereas the Chavs have already played them twice.

He thinks it's a diabolical plan to fuck them up

Mata's a great player, but this smacks of a panic buy.

They desperately need a quality centre half and they buy an attacking mid.

It's official now. Very, very interesting transfer... :)

If Man. Utd buy a decent defender they will have everything to beat any team, but i think that David Moyes is the problem of Man. Utd :!:

Mata to 37 million pounds to join Manchester United, the Red Devils supporters so excited, came to Old Trafford in the first few games, Mata's performance has some bright spots, but not really amazing, but Manchester United Rooney believes that sooner or later will play Mata peak levels.
