Makes sense....
Appoint a bogan to deal with the bogan team culture.
It might work.

Next step green and gold flanellette shirts as team uniform. Major Sponsor is already VB, it makes sense....
It's all in the Delivery!

Dont be fooled by Lehmans "bogan" status, hes a very very good coach and is highly respected within the cricket world.

Hang on, was Darren Lehmann the one 'let go' by the SACA?
You know, the same mob who got an $85-million debt wiped off. And a $40-million footbridge thrown in for good measure.

My question is the same one that no one can answer from all the cricket nuts at work. Why does everyone seem to think lehman is the saviour? What has he actually done to earn this much credibility.Steve#4 wrote:So what's the resident footballnews poms think of the appointment?
To me, you've sacked the best coach you've probably ever had in arthurs and replaced him with a relative unknown.
The response from one of the main blokes over here (skippered in Grade cricket for a few years) is that the only thing he actually brings to the table for south australians is that he's a south australian.

he just wont have nonsense bullshit rules like doing your homework to keep your spot in the side
he will bring in common sense, and of course cricket experience
Re: Australian Cricket Media conference
Not only has Darren Lehman had a very good playing career for his country, he has, to this day been the most successful Aussie to play in county cricket in England (Stuart Law would be up there too) He has been amazing up in Queensland as a coach and done well in the IPL. His reputation as a decent coach spread fast over the world.God is an Englishman wrote:My question is the same one that no one can answer from all the cricket nuts at work. In my opinion has all the great qualities required to get this Aussie team out of trouble.
We appointed Flower as coach and look at all the criticsm that received, he played for Zimbabwe (yes he was very good) but had next to no experience as a coach before being picked as assitant for England. Now the bloke has produced wonders for England really......
Some people can coach, others cant.......Lehman can!
I think the Aussies have made a great choice.

I must have missed this good international career of his.
Flower was the assistant to Moores and stepped up to replace him as an interim measure and impressed.
Re: Australian Cricket Media conference
Test average in the 40's, ODI in the high 30's, First Class in the 50's thats a good career in anyone's mind who actually knows anything abourt cricket. Useful bowler too.......Not to mention he wasnt the most physically gifted cricketer when everyone around him was fit as a fiddle. I played Kent premier for over 5 years and 2nd XI county cricket for 2. At some point or another ive played against many international players and if you ask any of them about Darren Lehman especially in England they will tell you he was one of the most naturally gifted cricketers around.
England gambled on taking Flower as assitant, he had no experience prior to that. Lehamn is already a sucessful coach at state level.

Kent Premier - who for? I played for Holmesdale and then moved to Linden Pk. Depending on your age we probably though quite a few of the same people.
Didn't realise his test average was that high, but he didn't play too many games. Looking at the stats it's actually more than I thought.

oh and wouldn't say Flower has produced wonders, really he's just continued Fletcher's great work.
Done well but had the good base to start with.

Re: Australian Cricket Media conference
Plus Lehmann was around when the Aussie team was already quite strong in batting. Was hard at the time to displace the likes of the Waugh brothers, Marto, Punter etc in the upper/middle order. If he were around now, he'd walk in and probably bat at number 3!God is an Englishman wrote:Ian_Wright wrote:
