Re: SANFL
SANFL, for example, if you have 100 points for and 100 points against, your percentage is 50%, in AFL its 100%.
AFL you virtually divide points against from points for and convert to a percentage. Eg - Scored 300 points, conceded 200 points, (300 divide by 200 = 1.5) you have 150%
In SANFL, lets say you have 965 points for, 766 against. Add the two figures together you have 1731. Then you just calculate 965 (points scored) against total points aggregate (1731) and convert to percentage and you get 55.75%.
Clear as mud hey!

Re: SANFL
Ah, I hear you Bomber, - but can you please explain why the AFL awards 4 points for a win and 2 for a draw. Isn't that the equivalent of the SANFL's 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw if you divide the AFL's thing by 2?Bomber wrote:I actually think the SANFL do it right, as well as two points for a win, one for a draw.
Bomber, this phenomenon has never been properly demonstrated to me. Please explain.

Bomber's equation was correct.

Have often asked that myself - if you kick it through your own goal through the middle sticks, it should be a rushed 6 points!God is an Englishman wrote:Wir Sind Helden wrote:So why isn't a behind two points?

I don't know, even if you run over the line it should be a goal. In fact make it 10 points for being a coward.Ofor Fuxake wrote:If it's kicked surely it is six points.God is an Englishman wrote:why isn't an own goal treated as such?Wir Sind Helden wrote:So why isn't a behind two points?

I was at the West Adelaide v Central Districts game today when there was lightening. I remember playing at Mount Barker and the referee abandoned the game when he saw lightening. Do Aussie Rules games ever get abandoned for weather?

Any potential for a rally?

You get a lot more points in darts for missing the target you are aiming for.Stitch This wrote:I notice the AFL are using 'one point for a miss' as a selling point in their latest ads

sometimes that point can actually screw you up and cause you to lose though
I think from discussion it's basically target sports as the only ones you get a point for missing. You surely have to admit that a team ball sport is a joke to reward mediocrity.

There's a huge target worth 1 point, but if you get more accurate, we will give you 6. It's rewarding accuracy, not mediocrity.

it reminds me of primary school sport, they give you a medal for participation.
You've missed what you're aiming for. You should get fuck all! not a point for having a try.
