David Moyes leaves Everton (OFFICIAL)

Post by paokara »

Everton said in a statement that Moyes had been an "outstanding manager" who made a "massive contribution" to the club.

"The manager met Chairman Bill Kenwright early yesterday evening (Wednesday 8th May) and confirmed his desire to join Manchester United," the statement said.

United are expected to announce their new manager as early as today.

There's already similarities. Moyes has already knocked Liverpool of their perch in Merseyside

I honestly couldn't be happier. The club's in great shape. I was getting a bit bored of all the success under Fergie. How's your man Rodgers doing by the way? Making progress? You might finish above Everton next year if you carry on improving.

Since we're having a heart to heart, TBH I'm not sold in Rodgers. He has a bit of a snake-oil salesman about him, but I support him unequivocally cos I can see direction (unlike Uncle Woy for example).

I think you Mancs are in for a shock when you realise you can't replace Mr Ferguson and there's no way in modern football you can create another one.

Yeah but I don't think any United fan thinks Ferguson can be replaced. But, the situation is unique and I think it needs someone like Moyes to take charge (as does Fergie). He'll walk into a perfect set up in every aspect and will also learn on the job. Also, don't underestimate the quality of the current coaching set up. They all know how to win league titles and European Cups.

True. The men behind the man carried Ferguson tactically for years.

My thoughts are, I've seen Moyes bottle it in that many Merseyside derbies to think that he's a very risk averse manager. Not sure you can be that risk-averse when you manage Man Utd and are expected win every game regardless of opposition.

Ferguson got 7 years without silverware to get it right, albeit he was coming off a lower base. If Moyes doesn't deliver anything in the first season the knives from the press will be out.

I'd go as far as to say we might have to write next season off. Too much of a media circus, a couple of defeats on the trot and it will be ridiculous. He will hopefully be more comfortable in his second season.

People have to realise something with the appointment of Moyes
Manchester United wont become David Moyes. David Moyes will become Manchester United.

We will teach him to live and breath success and trophies

Clearly he has been punching above his weight for a long time. Now it will be interesting to see how he goes with a fairly fat cheque book in his hand?

I think Moyes is a great choice for Man U. He has done extremely well for many years at Everton. Take my hat off to Man U for giving him 6 years . Clubs need stability to achieve success.
