Excellent game to coach in and watch. Both teams playing a good brand of football with lots of talent on display. Game played in good spirits, both sets of supporters were excellent and alot of mutual respect between the two sides.bakes65 wrote:U/12 Playford 3 Raiders 3

Always good to hear something like that.
Re: rd6 results
The Raiders kids were not used to the physical part of the game, but thinking about it, this is something they have to adapt to in this competition. There were 2 penalties two yellow cards and lots of free kicks throughout the game, i thought the referee could have spoken to a few of the repeat ofenders a bit sooner than later but overall he was ok. Agreed there is plenty of talent between the two teams & understand the STIC trials for the Northern Zone is well represented by the two clubs.matty2323 wrote:Excellent game to coach in and watch. No long balls being played by Playford which is great for the kids development & we love playing against these sorts of clubs. The families from both sides were fantastic in what was encouraging comments.
Any chance of using the visitors changerooms next time?, this is a nice aspect when the kids playing on the senior pitch. White city provided this gesture & this was a fantastic experience for the kids to feel all aspects of the game.
The Raiders coach could have been a bit less animated ;)

i agree that its refreshing when teams are trying to pass the ball and not using many long balls
its both surprising and disappointing how often you see teams play alot of long and direct balls. junior football meant to be about development. playing lots of long balls seems abit like cheating to me for the sake of maybe getting a few extra points
when the kids get to u/18s and cant pass very well then they are the ones that suffer
Re: rd6 results
unfortunately coaches will turn to long balls if it means a few extra points...its all bout finishing in the top 2-3 in your league to gurantee JPL status in u/13...thats pretty important in some people s eyes.

Re: rd6 results
keeping players/parents/volunteers/coaches at the club, while also bringing in new ones, what ever that takes, is what's important. Give it a few years (if not sooner) and everyone will jump off the Spanish style and go to the German style, until the next nation/coach discovers the new in thing. Just keep everyone happy that's what matters, and if your club is happy and surviving doing A, while another does B, so be it.Nap_65 wrote:so whats more important developing technique and skillful players or winning??
Re: rd6 results
Certainly a lot of 'cheap' fouls during the games. It wasn't malicious on the part of my players, they just found it tough to keep up with the speed on some of the Raiders lads. Its not easy going from playing teams that they can beat 25-0 to playing a side that matches, and at times, exceeded their level of performance. I thought the ref done well and punished the few offenses that were unnecessary (we spoke about these after the game).DUKE BLUE wrote:The Raiders kids were not used to the physical part of the game, but thinking about it, this is something they have to adapt to in this competition. you couldn't be more wrong. the clubs should be working together and making their own kids better. not competing against eachother and poaching players. the game and the kids come first. clubs are there to facilitate this
German style maybe the next bandwagon, but what they don't pass the ball?
If parents are too dumb to realise results are secondary to improving then let them go to your imaginary long ball club

Thats funny, I thought it was Dutch style that we were following ??The moyesiah wrote:keeping players/parents/volunteers/coaches at the club, while also bringing in new ones, what ever that takes, is what's important. Or maybe its just 'a style' that helps produce technically better players, that are football smarter, and enjoyable to watch .... only difference to me is the Germans are quicker on the counter
Spot Željko Jurin Jnr ......

Re: rd6 results
Whatever style countries are playing we must adopt the same philosophies as the FFA nationally are adopting to ensure all clubs are guidng and developing their players so we have consistency around the clubs and produce better footballers for the future.
That what i think is important at a young age in any federation or schools.

Re: rd6 results
What matters is the FFA have identified a lack of direction & no longterm strategy for youth development. In response they have implemented a template that offers continuity across the board. It doesn't matter if the child is short or not the fastest runner ..... what is important is teaching them how to be game aware, create options & understand a sound attacking strategy & how to maintain structure whilst under pressure. The trick is to identify players that are receptive to be coached this way. At the end of the day the FFA will proceed with this method regardless of anyones opinion as the alternative is FAR worse ...... another decade of opinions of why we haven't improved on the World stage!

Spanish or Dutch style will never catch is SA on for when it comes to the crunch coaches in SA are still selecting players who are fast and strong over players who although are bit slower have a natural ability to read the game of football (ie have a football brain). The faster players I find generally hold to the ball far too much and try to take on player after player ending up losing he ball (due to their speed and size they hog the ball) where as the slower and smarter player tries to find space to receive the ball and quickly passes the ball on to a supporting player offensively or defensively in order to maintain possession. Which one will you choose?

This is very true which is unfortunate.Raleigh wrote:Spanish or Dutch style will never catch is SA on for when it comes to the crunch coaches in SA are still selecting players who are fast and strong over players who although are bit slower have a natural ability to read the game of football (ie have a football brain). STAY ON YOUR FEET
Re: rd6 results
My choice would be the Techinal player that is able to hold and look for a player rather than speed and fit who can not control a ball or pass
Again the discussion has to be teaching and developing kids the way FFA would like the clubs to coach for the future.

Spot on. I've seen it time and time again especially at STIC and FFSA trials.Raleigh wrote:Spanish or Dutch style will never catch is SA on for when it comes to the crunch coaches in SA are still selecting players who are fast and strong over players who although are bit slower have a natural ability to read the game of football (ie have a football brain).
