Junior Player Rego Cards
Noticed that this year the players card doesn't actually have a picture of the player on them, just the name and registration number. Anyone understand the reasoning behind this? In the cup this season, an opposition coach questioned the age of one of my players. He's of age, and we have his registration card, but without a picture, the card is near on useless. You would like to think teams wont take advantage of this, but there is now no way of proving a kid is who he says he is.

Its a joke...poorly designed so that some will rort the system & win at all costs.matty2323 wrote:Noticed that this year the players card doesn't actually have a picture of the player on them, just the name and registration number. Deliberate move to remove the photo. There are no player card checks anymore. FFSA have stated that it's been proven time and time again that a club can cheat the system with or without photo cards. The cards issued this year are really only designed for their 'rewards' scheme not as a form of ID. I, for one, am totally in agreement with stopping card checks. If a club wants to cheat then so be it, in the long run they're only cheating themselves.Armageddon wrote:Its a joke...poorly designed so that some will rort the system & win at all costs.matty2323 wrote:Noticed that this year the players card doesn't actually have a picture of the player on them, just the name and registration number. I personally think 99% of clubs/teams/coaches/players are honest enough to not need them. But i still believe they should be there to settle a query. I imagine the coach questioning the age of one of my players left frustrated at the thought we may have cheated. A simple photo on the card would have been sufficient to settle any debate. I dont like the thought of other teams thinking we cheated, it leaves a sour taste in everyone's mouth that could have been solved with a photo ID.de niro wrote:Deliberate move to remove the photo. Kids sport, no need to cheat , including lines people , coaches and parents. Also, interchange in use, therefore all players should get an reasonable run. Coaches that give kids little to no time in a game should be removed from thier role. You pick kids at trial to play them not bench warm them. IMO only.
Re: Junior Player Rego Cards
Our club distributed a paper based list of cards which included the photo ID to the team managers. I presume it was sourced from FFSA somehow so maybe ask your delegate if they have or can get a copy.matty2323 wrote:I personally think 99% of clubs/teams/coaches/players are honest enough to not need them. Interested to know if this is a FFSA directive or a FFA directive . Are we being brought into line with other states or is this happening solely in South Australia ?

Excellent point!... If the coach feels there are a couple of kids in his/her squad just to make up the numbers then they really arn't "coaching", they should be dedicating more time and effort on their lesser players to bring them up to the standard they are looking for.
Anyone can pick the same 11 good starting players every week and win the majority of games.. thats not what I call coaching.
As for Rego-cards, if teams really are that obsessed with winning at all costs then they will always find a way to cheat or gain an unfair advantage.

Re: Junior Player Rego Cards
I'm all for player cards with Photos, even though its only juniors we are all on the same page of
accepting defeat as long as we are all play age eliglbe players in each team.
All Clubs can go to myfootball club website, where the cubs administrator can print up a paper
copy of all its players which have photo on them.
Unfortuanley FFSA are bringing us into line with the rest of the states which do not have a cards
and have no card checks.
Clubs have been told there is no need for card checks, which means you can ask for a card check,
but be prepared the opposition dont have to have any cards or info on hand for you to check.
If you feel the need to cheat, then your a bigger loser than the team you beat.
