With the poorly worded statement from the FFSA stating that the U17's league is 'optional' (aren't all junior teams optional?), making a mockery of the hard work and organisation that club administration conduct. We have been inundated with questions from frustrated players and parents, and news of some clubs not able or willing to enter a team into the U17 league. So as to help players and clubs, I have a simple question: which clubs will be operating with an U17 JPL team for Season 2013?
This is what I know or have heard:
Croydon Kings FC - YES
ABE - YES
MetroStars - YES
Cumberland United - YES
Western Strikers - YES
Raiders - YES
Playford - YES
West Adelaide - YES
Sturt - YES
Seaford - YES
Birkalla - YES
Enfield City SC - YES
Salisbury United - YES
Fulham United - YES
Para Hills FC - YES
Fulham United - YES
Adelaide Cobras - YES
Adelaide City - NO
Cambelltown City SC - NO
Modbury Jets - NO
Pirates -
White City -
Olympic -
Toros -
I apologise if I've missed any clubs, or added incorrect information. Please add and/or correct as required.

This email is being sent to clarify the Junior and Senior structures for 2013. In regards to the Junior Competition structures for next season, the Under 17 age group is being conducted but it is optional for clubs to enter. Therefore the structures will be as follows:
SSG
Under 6s, 7s, 8s, 9s, 10s and 11s
Junior Premier League and State League
Under 12s, 13s, 14s, 15s, 16s and 17s (optional)
Senior Men
Under 18s, Reserves and Seniors.
To date nomination forms for the Senior Competition have been distributed. Junior Competition nomination forms will be sent out in the next couple of weeks.
They can stay with Fulham and if good enough have a run in either the A or B team of Sun Div 1 Amateur League.
A season playing against men would not be bad for them or if they want to pursue playing Sat State League then go and give it a go - number of options available.
Fulham will always be there for them to come home too.
In a few years who knows Fulham might be part of the FFSA if the figures stack up.
I think you should have been able to work that out Robin Friday???
I think you just better stick to refereeing instead of worrying about Fulham because we are going great guns in juniors at the moment
you took it the wrong way.....your juniors have a great opportunity to help keep your club moving forward.
in reply to previous comment about fulham not having seniors , well you know i know of your seniors whereas someone else mustn't.
and having refereed your juniors i am well aware of there abilities.
Looks like that could be two small divisions or one large one, which would mean a season as long as the seniors. Could be good preparation for the following season!
Just a thought!

That's a great move for 17 year olds to look forward to, Sunday Amateurs were you can get the shite kicked out of out while avoiding the punches.
plenty of good 17/18 year olds learning their craft with the likes of trimboli, ebomo, day and many other quality players in saasl. remember not everyone can squeeze into 30 senior ffsa sides and with the ffsa league getting rid of u19s for 18s and next year possibly removing the reserves in place of u20 guess where these players not making the grade will have to go................the amateurs..

It looks like that there will be an influx of young players to the SAASL, slowly starting next year and then increasing for Season 2014 when the FFSA drop the U17 league totally.
There is concern that the young players will not be able to handle the different culture of the SAASL, I reckon that there wont be a problem; they will have everything under control. This is a new opportunity for the SAASL, there will be a lot of young talented kids that are to old for FFSA U16 leagues but not quite ready for a U18 league; and with clubs only having one U18 team there will be plenty of players without a club. Some of the players will drop out of the sport, some will move to the SAASL.
Seems like we are lucky in this State, we have two organisations that can look after players. Lucky the SAASL didn't follow the FFSA line of amalgamation.
looking at the way the Federation is going, within a couple of years the better players will be playing SAASL, and the ones that struggle to gain a place will move to Federation.
Federation will be the junior breeding ground to supply the stronger, higher quality teams in the SAASL,
1. Croydon Kings FC
2. ABE
3. MetroStars
4. Cumberland United
5. Western Strikers
6. Raiders
7. Playford
8. West Adelaide
9. Sturt
10. Seaford
11. Birkalla
12. Enfield City SC
13. Salisbury United
14. Fulham United
This creates a few questions, such as; what happens if there are no other club entries to this league? What happens if a few clubs enter a second U17 team?
Scenario's -
One U17 Junior Premier League (JPL) only, with 14 teams. No U17 Junior State League (JSL)
Two small U17 leagues - JPL and JSL
One U17 JPL league, with extra U17 teams added to the U16 leagues.
