Season length 2013

Post by de niro »

With Senior Men's Comp moving to an effective 30-round comp, will the JPL and possibly JSL seasons be extended to match? Many junior divisions already have longer seasons with 21 or 22 rounds but a move to 30 will have some ramifications to consider, including squad size to cover injuries and unavailability as well as overlap with summer sports.

Waiting to hear from FFSA but interested in hearing others views.

I have not heard of any suggestion, from within clubs or from the FFSA, that extending the playing season for the senior Men's competition will automatically mean a longer season for the juniors. Their season length should be unchanged.

That may end up being the case but I seem to recall reading a recommendation in the NCR that the junior football season needs to be extended to 10 months of the year, effectively forcing kids to dedicate themselves to the one sport.

There would only be maybe a dozen clubs who have access to their ground more than 10 months a year.

Then you have all the postponed fixtures. It would be a nightmare.

The best players are already training and playing with development and state squads.

will junior fees go up to pay the players for the extra matches they will be playing?
