I reckon you and I could get along OK.
You can choose your friends, but you can't choose your relativities.
Re: EPL Power Slipping In Europe?
All leagues go in cycles, but either way it has been one season of suspect results.

Re: EPL Power Slipping In Europe?
I would say that having Manure, Chelski, Sheik FC and Long ball Stoke still in Europe is not a massive slide, but a dip.....All the other countries especially Italy are playing a better brand of football and beginning to attract better players to the country. Still firmly believe the Bundesliga and EPL are the strongest leagues.

Well an Italian team hasn't won it since 2007. But you wouldn't say the Serie A had a slide. (I am aware Inter won it in 2010, they are just not an Italian team).

I couldn't care less!
Hopefully, it will continue to slide and then the foreigners will fuck off, so will the money from sky and then we can have football back. I'll be able to stand at a game and abuse the opposition.

One bad year doesn't make a power slide.
Chelsea could easily win it still.

Germany, England, Italy....... I think the current best 2 teams are in Spain (Barcelona and Real Madrid) and having the best teams and players makes Spain the best league.Veggos wrote:I would say that having Manure, Chelski, Sheik FC and Long ball Stoke still in Europe is not a massive slide, but a dip.....All the other countries especially Italy are playing a better brand of football and beginning to attract better players to the country. Being 3-0 up at HT isn't always a certainty you will win, so 3-1 down with the away goal is a distinct possibility.AnotherMilanFan wrote:NickyTanner wrote:Chelsea could easily win it still.

I wouldn't put any money on that.marado wrote:its only 1 year, EPL teams will b back next year!
Spain is number one at the moment and I can't see anyone else knocking them off for a few years yet.
Germany are getting better every year with greater competition in their league.
Italy is also playing much better football than the EPL this season and the Serie A is more competitive than it has been for many years.
Even Dutch football is slowly getting back to a decent standard again now they've gone back to basics again.
The EPL is losing it's appeal overseas due to the 'buy anyone who can kick a ball without falling over' mentality of most clubs.
Funnily enough, the Championship is getting better every year and the other divisions are also playing much better football than of old.
The older I get the better I was.

Ooh yeah. And don't forget Monchengladbach...When they lose Reus to Dortmund they will be shook up a little, but the team is great as a whole. Also, the RPL is putting some very very decent teams in the competition now.DOC wrote:look out for german and french teams next year, PSG and dortmund to shake up the comp i reckon

it's also very tight in the west kent sunday league division 3, doesn't mean it's a good league though.DOC wrote:in germany the top 4 i think is ridiculously tight

In Holland's Eredivisie 5 points seperates the top 6 teams...The league is amazingly competitive, and given enough time, will once again become a big player in Europe.

dont agree with the second part, even ajax have assumed the role of a sell on club, big stars like vermalen, emanualson, suarez, huntelaar, all sold, this will continue with van der wiel and eriksen to go after the euros me thinksAnotherMilanFan wrote:In Holland's Eredivisie 5 points seperates the top 6 teams...The league is amazingly competitive, and given enough time, will once again become a big player in Europe.
Re: EPL Power Slipping In Europe?
Dutch teams do quite well in Europe despite the difference in earnings between the leagues (still 4 teams in Europa league with 3 looking to go through to the next round, ajax would also still be in the CL if lyon didnt bribe their way there)DOC wrote:dont agree with the second part, even ajax have assumed the role of a sell on club, big stars like vermalen, emanualson, suarez, huntelaar, all sold, this will continue with van der wiel and eriksen to go after the euros me thinksAnotherMilanFan wrote:In Holland's Eredivisie 5 points seperates the top 6 teams...The league is amazingly competitive, and given enough time, will once again become a big player in Europe.
for ajax atleast, their strength will only change if we are able to earn more money or if the 6+5 rule comes in, currently we earn about 70 million
in comparison, man utd earn about 700 mill a year
main reason is that there are only 16mill people in holland compared to the other large countries
however, compared to the large teams we are a very healthy club with no debts (unheard of in england and spain)
so for now we have to focus on bringing up youngsters until changes are made. Also, the dutch league and belgium league may merge together soon
Re: EPL Power Slipping In Europe?
this last point would be great to happen, brugge and anderlecht going against psv and ajax, would make for great viewing and get more money into the belgian teamsruud wrote:it will only change when we are able to earn more money or if the 6+5 rule comes in, currently we earn about 70 millionDOC wrote:dont agree with the second part, even ajax have assumed the role of a sell on club, big stars like vermalen, emanualson, suarez, huntelaar, all sold, this will continue with van der wiel and eriksen to go after the euros me thinksAnotherMilanFan wrote:In Holland's Eredivisie 5 points seperates the top 6 teams...The league is amazingly competitive, and given enough time, will once again become a big player in Europe.

yeah im quite divided on the subjectDOC wrote: this last point would be great to happen, brugge and anderlecht going against psv and ajax, would make for great viewing and get more money into the belgian teams
on one hand anderlecht vs ajax would be awesome to watch
but on the other hand, besides anderlecht and brugge the rest of the teams are a lot weaker than the dutch league so I dont know who should be sacrificed for this to happen
Re: EPL Power Slipping In Europe?
half half split and let it come out in the wash for a few years maybe?ruud wrote:yeah im quite divided on the subjectDOC wrote: this last point would be great to happen, brugge and anderlecht going against psv and ajax, would make for great viewing and get more money into the belgian teams
