"...AND other clubs" sort of sounds ok but if just one
Wait to hear the circumstances first

With all due respect, Geoff is a very good technician/coach and a good guy. I think we need more information before we assume any violation of ethics. As far as I'm concerned, until someone provides more concrete information, it's just a rumour. Like much of what gets posted.

Also he is only involved in Coaching & Development at FFSA.beaches wrote:what people do after hours is their own business.
May be different if he was involved in Competition Management/Administration.
I'm sure everything is 'above board'.

Re: ffsa conflict of interst
Its a tough call, being a friend of Geoff's I know it would be all done with good intentions and because he loves football.
The questions I would ask are, as coaching & Development officer should he be attending all clubs especially in the top flight?
But are Fulham the only club thats asked for his help?
Looking from outside I'd say hats off to Fulham for using any resources they can get their hands on to improve.
He certainly shouldnt be a coach of a team but assisting coaches I think is fine, as long as he doesnt knock back another club that requests his help.
Sorry If Ive created more work for you Geoff!

So if Michael Carter as FFSA CEO wants to do CEO administration at a Super League club as long as done "after hours" thats all fine?
Andrioli the technical director of FFSA wants to do technical director role at a Premier League team or coach a Super League team "after hours" its ok?
Maybe I've been hit in the head too many times in goals but blind freddy could see conflict of interest
Re: ffsa conflict of interst
Possibly more positives having Geoff coaching at a womens club. He may get a perspective of what needs to be done at a club level in womens football which will also benefit other clubs in future and womens football overall.
Because also he gets to see/ identify other clubs players on a regular basis. I am sure because of his position at FFSA he would not play the poaching game and would realise he will be under extra scrutiny.
To have a person like Geoff involved in womens football can only be positive.

It's a good thing more - not less - people are involved in the women's game, even if in more ways than one.
Re: ffsa conflict of interst
It has been cleared by FFSA heirearchy. Geoff has to continue his game development duties with other clubs, but as he has just gone through the AFC C License program, he really wants and needs to coach. Having done the course with him I believe he will be a fantastic asset to the club, and will continue to help other clubs and kids around Adelaide further their football education. He has been waiting for this clearance for quite some time, and frankly, I dont see it as any kind of deal at all. Geoff's philosohpy on the game is excellent, and he is willing to share any knowledge he has with others, as he has done with me, and he will be more than happy to answer anyones questions on the game if they ask him. There is no issue here, as he is simply coaching outside of his commitments with FFSA.

yes all good answers i havent got a problem with more experience involed in the womans soccer, but only he was already assitant coach for adelaide united which to me is involed at the highest level ,to me ffsa should be looking at fixing the womans leauge and work on keeping the strugling clubs together, and strenghten the competion, you cant just help any one club they sould also be looking to help the olympic, and sturt marion to the same degree. Anyway it will all unfold soon as if there is any truth,to whats said on the forum already 3 to 4 girls have left olympic to go to fulham the can of worms has been opened, the seasion hasn't even started, how many teams are going to be in prems this year?is there going to be state leauge?what quality of compition will we have?I just hope they know what there doing and dont kill womans soccer here.

Re: ffsa conflict of interst
Evens, be rest assured that what ever you think Geoff Hargraves has nought to do with players going from other clubs to Fulham. And by the way those who have decided to go to Fulham will be vying for spots with some very talented young players. Really I cannot understand all the negativity about the whole situation. Yes I am a 10 year supporter of Fulham and of Womens Football overall and continue to be so. I have seen so many players come and go not only Fulham but other clubs as well.
Really I think everyone should just take some chill pills and try to make their clubs good environments and cultures for players to want to be there.

I have nothing to do with Fulham, I say good luck to them..........maybe some clubs are jealous because they didnt approach him first. If he is willing to further his coaching credentials by coaching in the womens game, he should be welcomed.

Lazy clubs (many of you out there) Always expect teh federation to step in an do your hard work for you. Get out there slacko's and make your own luck. Hence why the top teams (results and professionalism) always survive and attarct players.
Also...reduce the numbers in prems...less is more. Quality not quantity.

I think you may have hit a nerve there Sad Gal ,and rightly so. When I was publicity officer for SAWSA many years ago, I would often ask clubs to send me any information if they wanted it advertised on the radio, or a write up in the messenger ( for free ) but the clubs had to make the first move and ring me with the info.SAD GAL wrote:Lazy clubs (many of you out there) Always expect teh federation to step in an do your hard work for you. Only 2 clubs ever contacted me , one was the Noarlunga Lions ( who had a lot of teams back then ) and the other one was ...surprise surprise.. Fulham. Say no more.

If Geoff is so good why couldn't he get the job at BOSA (SAASL) that he applied for?
I hear they didn't want a bar of him there..

One club turning down an application hardly means he is no good.terminator wrote:If Geoff is so good why couldn't he get the job at BOSA (SAASL) that he applied for?

Phil Scardigno got the BOSA job, he is a legend there both as a player in his twilight and as a coach. He was always going to get it.Jay Slowly Running wrote:One club turning down an application hardly means he is no good.terminator wrote:If Geoff is so good why couldn't he get the job at BOSA (SAASL) that he applied for?

It is good to see FFSA people getting involved in the local clubs as long as no special favours are given.

let's be grateful they have a coach and secondly they have a team!
As a player I'm glad there will be a quality opponent to play against all the best to Geoff and his squad!
