Should be an interesting comp given how close the games were in last year's U14A.

If league results were to be used as predictor...Adelaide City, Blue Eagles, Croydon, will be up there.

pity those boys won't play, for the past 3 years the top 4 clubs were not the same teams that played the following season in U14, most players all play 15/16/17 and higher and are all dropped for this comp, comparing last years U/14s to the teams sent is different.

Last year, Para Hills didn't drop any players back in the Manu Cup. They could have but opted to promote from lower age groups.

My feeling is all the clubs operate in a way that would best present themselves as a good club..."in theory".
Bringing down or bringing up players has been in my experience treated case by case...so long as they are under 15, I'd say go for it especially if it would equip the squad with talent that could take SA beyond what we are already achieving with our representative teams.

For me competitions like this are like a "mini world cup" for our boys.
And while a lot of "the powers that be" are exploring ways of improving the way we perform on a global basis at senior level (eg. less runs more passing, Barca style, football not fightball, build up from the back etc), majority of our boys still play the "very fast attack-laden" Australian brand of play....which could be on vivid display if our SA winner could take it a notch higher.

This is serious yet exciting stuff really...so here's wishing our clubs are getting themselves ready to "rumble" at the highest level.

This comp is taken seriously.

The New Zealand team that qualified to go to Manchester last year were hand picked from the one of the Islands at the age of 8 years old. They advertised and selected with the intent of succeeding the the Manchester tournament. They were trained in an academy environment' (played in the local comp) 6 years of preparation.

The NZ team wasn't the biggest (probably the one of the smallest), they played out from the back, kept the ball on the ground and had the ability to switch the ball early, with deadly accuracy.

In the grand final the Monash team, which were allot bigger and stronger, tried the fight tactics and were torn to bits by the NZ setup.

On a interesting note, most teams in the pacific qualifying tournament did not play 1-4-3-3, and there was little interest in build up play from the keeper.

The winner was? Cambletown?
Where did Cambletown finish in U/15s? 2nd bottom!!!! yeah that was the same team that beat all before them yet could only win 3 other games the entire season.

At the end of the day all players are of age, all I'm saying is that 'some' players will never wear the U/15 shirt in 2012 and that's fine, this is a serious comp and all clubs will/should send their best 15 not their U/15s.

Our team manager says the game schedules have been released which is good.

However questions have been raised as to why "the top club" ended up having Division B and C teams in their group elimination schedule which in effect would increase their probability of progressing into the finals.

Luck of the draw perhaps?

Could someone kindly enlighten us how the schedule was drawn up for this comp?

Don't think so!! The winner gets the opportunity to play against other teams from the Australasian region and then that winner gets to play in the Man Utd Cup in England.

That is absolutely correct. The only issue I see is that in a competition that is held over 2/3 days in hot conditions, if you are in a competitive group and reach the final stages, you are at a disadvantage in playing against a team that has only had to stroll around to get through their group.

Ultimately, it is a great opportunity for the team that gets through from SA. Hopefully it is the team that deserves it on performances over the whole tournament and all the teams have an enjoyable experience.

Why seed any other football or tennis tournament around the world ?

I know its the extreme, but why not put 4 x top 10 European teams into the european qualifying stage of the WC in the same group, and then stick Luxembourg, Faroe Islands, Malta, San Marino in the same group ?

Like you said, its a prestigous comp with an unbelievable experience if you get far enough, and not just a trophy and game at Hindmarsh if youre lucky

Drop a game and another point in the group stage, and you're gone ........
