Correct SID...and with immediate success in Division 3....undefeated and winning the Rowley Cup (?)..
A fairly young team managed by Bobby Anderson with players like Mick Reece, Lou Hutchinson, Bobby Orr, big Dunn in goals, Dave Tonkin, Jimmy Tappin, Gordon Haig, Bobby Wright, Bobby Hunter, Johnny Newton. J. Connell, Hunt..
According to the Year Book the defeated C.T.C 25-0  and all up scored 103 goals for and conceded only 11 goals in the league !

Remember the TT Gully and Croydon Park days of that era. Rose up the divisions together with a great (but friendly) rivalry. CP was the team most Polonia "retirees" would go on to play for.
Ahh, the old beer/barbie caravan at Hudson Reserve and post match piss ups were grand (even though I was just an "observer" kid back in that particular era).

Few of those blokes still come to the club these days. And they certainly dont hurt bar sales. :D

Joe Jenko (who I've met taking photographs at SAASL games) was among them, Mark Larecki, Alex Zarawski, H.Sifkus, J. Cornelissen, C Geza, T.Pironi (J.Pirone ?), H. Cornelissen, I, Bendyk, M. Dunbar, J.banks, F. Kowal, John Marciniak, R.Kasperski, M.Marciniak, Z.Tomacewski, H.Kilpinski, Bangs, Kouzapa, Hiessen and Ryszawa were some other names mentioned between 1972-1974.

I remember when, as a young first team keeper, Elizabeth Downs secured a Division 2 title at Croydon Park in 1977 :D

Yes those names are CP "legends" (even though some spelling issues there swanny, not your fault  ). Yes it was Joe Pirone (Michael and Steve's dad) and Mick Larecki actually (Joe's brother). Banksy ended up a Vale fan later on and if I remember rightly, tragically passed away in a house fire up Elizabeth way not that long ago?
Kasperski (and family) are regular contributors to bar sales these days and you'll sometimes find Dunbar, Kowal, Marciniak and Zurawski around the pace too.

I don't think it was really surprising that APAC did so well in SASF Third Division in 1972....

The top four or five SAASL clubs used to regularly beat Third Division SASF clubs in the Federation Cup around that time.

For instance, in 1970, Elizabeth Vale beat Flinders Uni 5-2; Hectorville beat Mitcham 3-2; Apac beat Modbury 5-0!!; and Elizabeth Thistle beat West Torrens 8-2.

Apac went on to beat Birkalla 1-0 in the next round, before losing 5-1 to Hellas.

Apac were runners-up to Campbelltown in SASF Second Division in 1973, but only Campbelltown were promoted.
