Saturday Div 4
There seems to be some positive discussion about the forums relating to Saturday Div 4. I know most couldn't care less about our division but let's hope it can be organized better than last year. Last year we had 9 A grade teams and 7 reserves teams so our reserves only played 12 games in the entire season.
It's early days but it is looking much better for 2012 season:
FC Adelaide
Old Ignatians
Flinders Uni
Adelaide Uni
Hazara
Torrens Valley
Greenock
Adelaide Uni Orange (only one team last year)
Mantarays (would imagine they would go down to Div 6)
New teams proposed
Northern Pitbulls
Mt Compass
One Tree Hill (heard last year that they will have enough for A and reserves)
Whatever happened to McLaren Vale. They used to be in Div 3 and last year dominated Div 6. Does anyone know if they'll be fielding two teams?

I will be very suprised if FC Adelaide will play on next year. Alot of players have already left and the President has stepped down from his role.

Re: Saturday Div 4
If we can just get a full complement of A&B teams this year then I will be happy, some new teams would be great.
I agree that it would be good if Mc Laren Districts would put two teams in even if their B side was largly composed of kids, I fear they will not though and continue to treat Div 6 like an A team league.
It will be great shame if FC Adelaide do drop out!

Re: Saturday Div 4
because i'm a pedant.
SAASL had similar challenges last year with Sunday Div 4 and 5. Would probably have been better to merge them both rather then leave them as they were - didn't one comp finish with 5 teams in it or something and the other had 6 or 7?Fudpucker wrote:There seems to be some positive discussion about the forums relating to Saturday Div 4. Re: Saturday Div 4
I think Sunday Div 4 wasn't helped by the fact that both BESA and Maiwand got the boot. Both Saturday and Sunday Div 5's were shambles as well. I think Saturday Div 5 had 6-7 teams to start with so I think they only played 12 games in the season.2012 Sat Premier wrote:SAASL had similar challenges last year with Sunday Div 4 and 5. Let's hope SAASL have learnt something from their mistakes last year!

Re: Saturday Div 4
If they had 7 teams, they should've played 3 matches against each opponent.
Too logical for the SAASL though.

Re: Saturday Div 4
First year that we will be out of Sat div 4 for a few years, and we are bloody glad about it. All the issues mentioned around clubs not having reserves is true and should be addressed by the league. We were in the same boat with reserves only getting 11 games last year, which also included a forfeit from Grenoch 2 years in a row. Not good enough and I hope for ther sake of the teams still in Div 4 that it gets sorted!

Re: Saturday Div 4
It is usually made up of C teams from all the division 1 clubs, and they try and structure it so all 3 teams play at the same ground every week. Last year it was a bit of a shambles as not all clubs had a C team. hopefully this year it will be better.teddybear wrote:Anyone know what teams are in sat div 5

Re: Saturday Div 4
Mt Compass have been confirmed Sat Div 4. The last 2 weeks our numbers have increased and we've now got that magical 26 needed for the 2 teams (with another couple hopfully appearing this week). Now to get the rego forms all complete.
I think McLarens have been struggling for numbers again, dunno why though.

They easily had two sides against us yesterday.English wrote:One Tree Hill brought about 800 players last weekend. Surely fielding two sides.
Re: Saturday Div 4
So now that Mt Compass and One Tree Hill are confirmed Div 4 should look something like this:
Torrens Valley
Hazara
Flinders Uni
Adelaide Uni Black
Old Ignatians
Greenock
One Tree Hill
Mt Compass
Northern Pitbulls
Adelaide Uni Grey
Heard Adelaide Uni is now having a black and grey team both with A and B teams. Don't know if there is any truth to this???
10 teams would be fantastic!

With USC Lion, FC Adelaide and possibly Allstars not playing in their respective divisions, teams will get bumped up from div 3 and 4 so it may notFudpucker wrote:So now that Mt Compass and One Tree Hill are confirmed Div 4 should look something like this:

Re: Saturday Div 4
Why would teams get bumped up due to FC Adelaide folding as they would have been relegated into Div 4? As for the other two are you suggesting two teams would have to move from Div 3 and 4? Would they not just have a reduced number this season?Franco# wrote:With USC Lion, FC Adelaide and possibly Allstars not playing in their respective divisions, teams will get bumped up from div 3 and 4 so it may notFudpucker wrote:So now that Mt Compass and One Tree Hill are confirmed Div 4 should look something like this:

Re: Saturday Div 4
Your right about FC, not used to them being in Div 4, my mistake.
Yes on the other two, the lower Divs make way for the higher ones, if any Div is reduced it will be 4.

With 3 new teams/clubs in the division that is probably why they avoided the drop.

that would go against the way previous years have worked. Never known them to not relegate a team, they always just promote an extra team.

I agree with you God is an Englishman, however with divsion 4 you have a unique situation where the next teams that could be promoted are McClaren Districts but they only have one team, Flinders already have a team in div 3,who would you promote, maybe Greenock ?God is an Englishman wrote:OTHSC wrote:With 3 new teams/clubs in the division that is probably why they avoided the drop.

Re: Saturday Div 4
Go down the league table and pick the next side, that's the normal procedure. If there isn't one then fair enough, just seemed weird to have done it for the first time this year. I know people at that now non relegated team aren't happy.

That is strange ? Either Torrens Valley or Hazara ( both have an A+B team ) should be moved up ?
(just trying to remember who else was in that divison and have two teams and not already in div 3 ? )

That'd be good mate. And, yes a great result for the Dons. I'm not making any claims about how mighty Compass are until the season is over, and then i might not make any at all!AFC1903 wrote:great result fur the sheep last night eh, lookin forward tae a beer we a fellow sheep shagger when the mighty one tree hill play you!!! lolDonDownUnder wrote:Mt Compass have been confirmed Sat Div 4. Re: Saturday Div 4
I can confirm that Flinders were asked by the league if we wanted to play TWO teams in DIV 3 this year due to teams pulling out and decided that this was not something we wanted to do, we would rather both of our sides Div 3 and Div 4 were promoted this season through winning. The General wrote:I agree with you God is an Englishman, however with divsion 4 you have a unique situation where the next teams that could be promoted are McClaren Districts but they only have one team, Flinders already have a team in div 3,who would you promote, maybe Greenock ?God is an Englishman wrote:OTHSC wrote:With 3 new teams/clubs in the division that is probably why they avoided the drop.

The team that would have been next in line for Promotion would have been Hazara, why they have not chosen to go up or if they were asked I do not know.
