Immanuel College Old Scholars S.C Announce Head Coach 2012

Post by I.C.O.S.S.C »

Head Coach

The club is proud to announce that Robert Leopardi has been appointed as Head Coach for the 2012 season.

Robert's career as a coach and player has spanned over three decades. As a player Robert has had vast experience where he has played for various established clubs including: Adelaide City, Port Adelaide Soccer Club and Blue Eagles. At Blue Eagles he was a part of the 1982-84 team where they had widespread success; winning all four cups and the championship for both years.

Robert has been coaching for 13 years beginning as a junior coach, ranging from Under 9's up to Under 16's. As well as his extensive playing career Robert has successfully coached at senior level where he has coached at distinguished clubs; Western Strikers, Adelaide city and Adelaide Galaxy. He also spent a portion of one year at South Adelaide where he worked with Aldo Maricic coaching seniors, where together they managed to keep the team out of relegation. Robert spent two years coaching at Western Strikers where together with Charlie Villani and Aldo Maricic they were able to get Strikers promoted to the Super League, in which they continue to be a formidable team. Whilst at Western Strikers he also was the goal-keeper coach for one year. Robert has also coached the Under 14's and Under 15's at Adelaide city and also Adelaide Galaxy Under 16's.

We wish to congratulate Robert on his appointment and warmly welcome him to the club. We are very excited to have him join us and become a great addition to the club.

We welcome all returning and also new players to join us in January for pre-season. Details will be finalised and released in the coming weeks. All players welcome.

If you are interested in joining the club or for further information about the club please contact Darrell Wedge on 0400 310 520 or dpwedge@gmail.com

No, we are staying in the Collegiate League. We just wanted to get word out there on the forums on football news and this was the best suited, being we are part of an amatuer players league. The forums on here are great for reaching people.

Amazing. You should see there pool and indoor set up. Pitch looks pretty decent to although most high priced private schools are.

I'm not sure if you realise but our leagues C.S.L Select side beat the Amateur leagues Select side a few years back. The Collegiate League is very much on par with the Amateur League.

That's why it would be great to do a top four comp. help see where standard is at and would bring lots of interest and probably great crowds.

Our pitches are very good but we have moved to even better pitches and now have our home ground at Barratt Reserve West Beach. Our training grounds are ok but we are hopefully moving to better facilities this year. We are very lucky with the facilities at Immanuel, the gum is fantastic and has a great indoor soccer program there.

It was a Saturday select side that the CSL side played ..... and yes maybe the collegiate league is on par with the Amateur League in Sun Div 2/3/4

All the more reason to play against each other to see both leagues are standard wise. Our leagues is heavily populated with ex premier and super league players who have changed the dynamics of a lot of club's. The past 3 years the level of play in the C.S.L has come a long way and I reckon we would be competitive against any side the amateur put before us. I'm not saying we would necessarily win but if we played our 4 best sides against amateurs best there would be some interesting results.

Take any team in sunday div one and I'd be suprised if they didn't beat you by 4 or 5 goals.

My leagues better than your league wah wah wah wah..........Get over yourself....
Having played in both, the standards are not too far apart. I reckon the top 4/5 Sunday Div 1 teams would be better by a fair bit but outside that group it would be an interesting match up. Certainly if the the Sat Div 1 teams were to match up, it would be a good competition.... Saturdays are for football, Sundays are for sobering up.....
Might also lower some of the barriers that a paranoid few have between the leagues...Leave that to the Numpties who run both leagues!

Good thread someone needs to organise a few games as it is the best and fun way to play soccer . I am so surprised on how many good players are in the amateur leagues coming from super league background. really good standard.Good concept div 1 and 2 vs collegiate div 1 and 2 ,good fun anyway.

having refereed 2 CSL games in 2010 i think the top 2 in CSL would be mid table in div 1 sunday, the next few div 2. BUT very competitive with some quality players just not as much depth as sunday amateur league.
things happen for a reason

such arrogance! having watched some div 1 sunday games it is on par with div 1 collegiate league

the likes of mercedes, rostrevor, sacred heart would challenge for the title

rostrevor took Salisbury State League side to extra time this year in Fed Cup!

I find it hard to believe the Collegiate League is even close to the standard of Sunday or Saturday Div 1. Each year we (Uni Blacks Amateur League) have been playing a pre-season game against Uni Whites Collegiate side. We have decided to cease playing this game as it is considered detrimental to our preparations for the season due to the non competitive nature of the match. We win convincingly each year, fielding a weakened side, and feel we get very little benefit from the game, so we have decided to play tougher opposition next year. This year, Uni Whites finished 3rd in Div 1 Collegiate League and we only played Div 2 Saturday Amateurs.

Best way organise a carnival preseason with a few teams from both leagues and have a big family day share the proceeds and have some fun. See where all teams are at. We would be up for it. Be a great day.

Bodo would still consider them an amateur team.

do you think you could be leading against an unbeaten Salisbury side 1-0 with 8 mins left only to draw 1-1 after fulltime and lose in extra time?? i doubt it

you cant judge on individual games.

have a carnival - tournament - then everyone can judge

I would certainly expect us to be able to match it with Salisbury and on our day get a result like that. The top half of the State League is pretty comparable to the better Div 1 sides... the teams in the bottom half of the State League are crap and would only be Div 2 standard.

You're the one using an individual game as an example. We play a carnival/tournament every year that includes the Uni Whites (so we have played them on plenty of occasions), and they're by far the least challenging of our trial games. I think it will be our Div 3 team playing them in next years tournament.
