POST OF THE YEAR

Post by KING NUGGETT »

To me this POST OF THE YEAR,
It highlights the reasons why we have these major issues in our sport ATM. When one of the Top Div.1 Clubs Presidents can behave like that & there formites can get on here damanding a replay because they had a injustice done because there keeper got sent off for handling the ball outside the area???
WTF & were the FK is this sport heading with behaviour like this???

4-4-2 wrote:Was involved with the farm v pontian game. Fantastic start to the game played tough, fair and a great pace. Yes ingle farm player did bring the pontian player down and I have seen these given as a red card. Perhaps it should have been given but it wasn't. You win some, you loose some but over a season things generally even themselves out between the good and bad calls. Pontian keeper had a clear and deliberate handball outside the box and was duly given a red card. Once again seen them given plenty of times before but farm player would have had a bit of work left to finish off the goal, bad decision by the keeper. Was not privvy to the exact comments of the said supporter to the ref. Sick of hearing what if he was a neutral. He was not a neutral and clearly part of the pontian continget there on the day. The pontian marshal who is the club president did not handle the situation well. Instead he aggrovated the situation by dishing a tirade of abuse to the ref. This same marshal acted like a pork chop first time we played pontian this season and is a poor reflection on a club who appeared to have changed for the better. Steve is genuinely a good guy but can be incosistent either way you have to respect the referees decision, harden up and get on with it. The young linesman on the pontian side was visibly shaken by the incident and given the incidents that have occurred this year the president/marshal should have taken a common sense approach and diffused the situation. My view from here is farm should be awarded the points. They were not involved with the incident. Had a clear advantage at 1-1 playing a team down to 10 men after 20mins. Game maynot be replayed for upto 3 weeks depending on pontians cup progression and if played midweek would most likely be at a neutral ground, once again unfair for the farm. League needs to set a precedent here and apparently pontians already on a good behaviour issue from the league due to previous incedents. The loosers out of the whole thing is players and spectators who gave up there time for what should have been a cracking game. Will also state the pontians players are a good bunch of lads and also note the hospitality we received from the pontian club after the first game was top notch! Intersting decision for the league to make
POST OF THE YEAR. 4-4-2

This is the reason for all the problem's with our sport ATM, everyone else wants to blame the Referee or anyone else except themselves "It me or wasn't my fault".
PONTIAN ask yourself honestly why Sunday's game was abandoned? Was it the FARMS fault or could it be because one of your supporters went over the top in his abuse to the Referee after he sent your keeper off & then you Club Marshall who is your President instead of doing his Job as the Ground Marshall to tell the supporter to pull his head in he accually got stuck into the Referee himself.
I have been to PONTIANS many times over the last few years & I was there this year,
NO WONDER YOUR CLUB HAS PROBLEMS & IS CURRENTLY ON A GOOD BEHAVIOUR BOND WHEN YOUR PRESIDENT ACTS THE WAS HE DOES?
VERY VERY POOR FROM A CLUB PRESIDENT!
PONTIAN you asked me what I wouldv'e done if it happened to our keeper in the 1st 10mins of a game. I probably would have yelled THATS BULLSHIT out at the Referee may-be a couple of other thing, but let me say this if the Referee had have stopped the game & come over & spoke to me our Club Marshall, Chairman, Committee Person, Supporter wouldv'e come up & said Nelly pull your head in or get out of here. I wouldv'e listened thought about it & pulled my head in.
YOU HAVE NO ONE TO BLAME EXCEPT YOURSELVES! FK ME YOUR ALL GROWN MEN!
A PROUD DIVISION 1 CLUB & I'M SURE MANY OF THE GOOD PONTIAN PEOPLE WOULD BE TOTALLY EMBARRASSES BY YOUR CLUBS PERFORMANCE ON SUNDAY...
I JUST FEEL SORRY FOR YOUR PLAYERS....

maybe he is just adding spice to what looks like a massive semi final!!!

Hope sharky is the ref in the semi. That way he can tell all the yellow vested officials to keep all supports and neutral spectators mouths shut or move away or even get them removed from Hindmarsh.

Mate there was an all in brawl at a C's game and the game finished yet one person yells at the ref and it get called off :?:

i think it highlights the fact that plenty of people are happy to go and support a club but less are willing to become involved in the work required to run that club therefore the choice of people to do certain things becomes more and more limited

Will make for some extra spice on what is already a big semi. Does the chairman sit in the stands at hindmarsh or can he hurl abuse at the referee from the touchline?

Well said Lisbon.

To run a successful club on and off the park you do need people willing to help in many ways. some people do 10 different roles when they should try and concentrate on one, but if the people arent there to do it you do what you can

I think you are all missing the point here, I didn't post what I did to add spice to the game I posted what I did to highlight the Major problems that our Game faces.
When a top Division 1 Club can get a game abandoned in the 1st 10mins because there Goal Keeper gets a Red Card for handling the ball outside the box,
then a supporter hurls enough abuse to the Referee to get him to stop the Game & go over to the Club Marshall to get him to do his Job a League requirment,
then the Club Marshall who is the President of the Club hurls more abuse at the Referee so he then abandons the Game.
Then to come on this forum & try to justify the actions demanding a replay WTF???

Seriously can't you all see the problem here? Clubs need to take responsiblity for there Players, Officials & Supporters Actions & stop blaming
the Referee, bad tackles or anythink else for all this pathetic piss poor behaviour.....

This is the problem PONTIAN people don't think they have done anything wrong, it was the referees fault not there's?WTF?

WRONG!

CLUBS & CLUB OFFICIALS HAVE RESPONSIBILITIES, IF THEY CAN HANDLE THOSE RESPONSIBILITIES THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE THE JOB AS A CLUB OFFICIALS.
IF A CLUB CAN'T PROVIDE SUITABLE PEOPLE WHO CAN HANDLE THOSE RESPONIBILITIES THE CLUB SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO BE A PART OF OUR ASSOCIATION....

SIMPLE...

OTHER WISE WE JUST HAVE ANOTHER BESA ON OUR HANDS...

The problem here is you have a president who can't keep his emotion in check. Now I know the Pontian president puts a lot of time and effort into the club but he can't hurl abuse and blame the referee when things don't go for them. I was there when they lost to Gardens at home and he blamed the referee for blowing full time because he thought he blew it short. When 3 others on the the touchline (all refs) told him it was actually a minute over he complained that all refs stick together.

IT IS A REQUIREMENT OF OUR ASSOCIATION TO HAVE A GROUND MARSHALL WHO IS THERE TO CONTROL THE CROWD & TO PROTECT THE REFEREE.
IF A CLUB CAN'T SUPPLY SOMEONE WHO CAN DO THIS THEY SHOULD NOT BE IN OUR ASSOCIATION & CERTAINLY NOT IN THE 1ST DIVISION.
IT IS A ABSOLUTE JOKE & A BLIGHT ON OUR SPORT THAT WE ARE EVEN TAKING ABOUT THIS SIMPLE REQUIREMENT...

IT WASN'T OUR CLUBS FAULT THE REFEREE ABANDON THE GAME, WE CAN SUPPLY A GROUND MARSHALL WHO CAN KEEP HIS HEAD & DO THE JOB.

Much more entertaining game up at Para Hills East anyway. Glad to see they have avoided relegation

I only know the story from what I have read on this forum. The president of a club is a very difficult job, it is a role that you must balance with your head and your heart as well as do 20 different things at once.

A valid point is raised, sometimes clubs do not have options with who is appointed in commitee's or as presidents due to sheer lack of numbers. As a president myself, i take my hat off to all presidents that do the hard work that is involved.

Whether there are options or not, once you are president - YOU BECOME THE HIGHEST FIGURE for what the club represents on and off the field. A president needs to cool his players, his spectators and all that are involved in incidents down!!! EVEN when he is fired up the most.

So King Nuggett - I agree with you.

Whilst Mr Nugget's language is a bit loud, he raises valid points. Unfortunately Pontian (due to silly actions of one or a few people) do not have a leg to stand on. Will be very interested to see how the SAASL officials deal with this one. Some decisive, strong and timely decision making is required - otherwise together with other recent events, the reputation of the League and all those involved (and trying to do the right thing) is being tarnished by the nut-case minority.

At the end of the day Nuggett you weren't there yet you feel you need to have the most to say....No one can stop you voicing your opinion but to go on and on based on second hand info....well all we can do is

You don't know what was said by the spectator, official or the ref....nor do the Farm spectators to be honest as they were on the other side of the field.....But you draw the longest bow comparing it to BESA etc....Maybe you should add that the prez had a gun, the coach pulled a knife and the fat spectator went for Sharkey with a Yiros with extra galic sauce  Could have happened, if someone else wrote it i'd bet you'd quote it at some point!!

No one at the club is happy with the outcome, including coach players and president..... both clubs shook hands on the day, both were dissappointed and each will push for the best outcome for their club......Ultimately the SAASL will decide the outcome - it's unfortunate but can't change what happened nor do we condone it...I can honestly say at no point did I get the feeling that when the incident occurred or in the time after the game was called that thethe situation turn violent....Farm people who were there may care to comment....

Also this wasn't a tactic as others have eluded to....if this was the case the same thing would have happened vs Florina when two were sent off, one in the first 5 mins....when we had a chance of winning the title...

As for the Prez, disappointing people can take cheap shots...Comments that know else will do it so you get a clown etc are uneducated and disrespectful......He was animated on Sunday, emotions may have got the better of him but at no time did he threaten the ref.....Could he have handled it better? Probably but who know's he may have been pissed off he didn't get a yiros :D

The time and effort a guy like Terry devotes to the club is above and beyond and the effort he puts in to ensure his players are looked after is second to none. It people like this that and the other volunteers that keep amateur clubs going strong........He won't nor should he change the passion he has for the club....He should have stayed clam but easy to say....why didn't the ref speak to the other 2 gound officials also allocated by the Pontians..Sharkey was a key figure in managing this situation and I personally feel he didn't do that well.....

Looking forward to the semi as the two games vs gardens this year have been great games played in the right spirit....

Next season, a club's supporters must be held accountable for garbage like this. Sunday's behaviour was completely avoidable.

Something like a 6-7 point deduction from the league, for abuse toward a referee, warn the crowd marshall first, if it persists, stop the game and deduct points. Hit them where it hurts.

All this garbage about a replay - Pontian don't deserve a replay unfortunately.

PONTIAN EAGLES S.C ARE A SUNDAY PREMIER LEAGUE CLUB & IT IS AN ABSOLUTE EMBARRASSMENT TO
THEM & OUR LEAGUE & ASSOCIATION THERE BEHAVIOUR ON SUNDAY.
TO MAKE EXCUSES FOR THAT BEHAVIOUR IS JUST A JOKE.
You forgot to add the one about the player verbally assualting the referee and stealing the card from him and ripping it to shreds.
