Sunday Div 2

Post by East Boy »

Firstly i would like to congratulate Inter and Vista on promotion. Vista were going to get there eventually and they finally made it. Well done to those boys your club has come a fair way in the past 5 years. Inter continue the yo yo of the past few seasons, but its never easy coming straight back up.

My question is though, with the table as close as it is for the drop, does everyone think that div 2 is stronger this year or weaker??? I know from experience div2 can be one tough league, but it seems as though inter and vista have much better squads than everyone else and have easily run away with promotion.

It is and will continue to be a very tough league. This year hasn't been easy for any of the teams and still two weeks to go anything can happen. The table doesn't do the league justice, alot of teams having draws and dropping points against similar opposition. Some teams just have a little more consistency and didn't lose players due to walkouts and whatnot. Look forward to next season finally in division one. But first let's finish this title race! :D

Division 2 is a tough gig and has always been a tough gig...no harder this year than any other year.
When it was a 12 team Division in the early 90's it was also tough and a long hard slog.
On paper I wouldn't think the Inter team would be too diferent from the team that was promoted a few seasons ago..maybe a little more organised, consistent and greater depth.
Modbury Vista have matured as a team and are a fairly young side and their extra pace and fitness has got them over the line quite easily.
Southern Knight have had a very unsettled season and have struggled to keep the same side together....due to injuries, holidays, suspensions and disappearances....we have only ouselves to blame really.....

Congratulations to Salisbury Inter & Modbury Vista for their promotions.

They have been the consistent teams of the division and have been the better teams when it counted.

All the best in Div 1 - from all at Beograd

In reference to the league, it has been of good quality, all games have been tough and truly on any given day any team can win. It is a credit to all the clubs involved to have such a competitive league. A very slow start for us at Beograd, injuries, player walkouts and all other engagements have not helped our cause, but we have finally found some form. With two games left in the league (still relegation survival firmly on our minds) and a semi final game in the cup, we have done well so far.

league standard has actually dropped quite a lot from last year... teams such as Elizabeth Grove and who else went up? were much much stronger than the teams that went down and replaced them.. although the teams that came up would probably be slightly stronger than the ones that went down because ttg and port pirie were really bad.. but in my experience from playing this year and last year, we were a lot worse off with basically the same team last season.. struggled hard to stay up.

I think the standard had definately dropped compared to last year.
Vista and Inter have suffered with injuries etc like everyone else but have found consistency
with the quality of the depth in there B Teams.
Saying that and looking at Easties and Grove's current ladder position, both Teams will
need to recruit well to stay up and be competitive.

This is what i thought..... seeing westies struggle obviously made it slightly easier. Losing TTG to div 3 would have made it easier too. Appart from the previous season they were always a battle. Knights seem to have battled with various issues, when usually they usually go on a run of wins at some point. Bosna depends on which players want to rock up and maco's seem to have lost the plot after a great start. Raptors are an ok side, but seem to lack the quality and depth to really give it a shake. I thought brahma would have done better, but i guess that does show the step up in each division.

It seems as though everyone else has cancelled themselves out for the year. the 2 who get relegated might feel a little unlucky.

No I think the other 6 who survive could consider themselves lucky at this stage if we Survive we will have been lucky

Yeah i guess that could be the case too. I only say that because there is no real easy beats this year. Not too sure how many wins previous teams who were relegated had, but winning 4-5 games and drawing another 4-5 as the bottom teams have done isnt getting beaten too many of the 16 games played thus far.
