Top Goalscorers Sunday Premier League

Post by lefty »

With 3 rounds to go any of the 5 players at the top could win the golden boot.
Boree Kieng (EG) - 16
Michael Brooks (PG) - 15
Luke Air (IF) - 15
Anthony Matteo (PE) - 13
Matt Cock (IF) - 12

Grove play - East (a), Parafield (h), Downs (h)
Parafield play - West Beach (h), Grove (a), Florina (a)
Pontian play - Downs (h), Farm (a), Vale (h)
Farm play - Fulham (a), Pontian (h), East (a)

My prediction is a 3 way tie between Boree, Brooks & Air.

Air & brooks probably have the best chance as they both play 2 of the teams in the lower half of the ladder
and the others all have teams in the top half to play.... IMO

Are you sure you have the correct figures,

ie. your assuming the amatuer website was correct prior to last Sunday?

Air & Brooks both scored in the 2-2 draw between Farm and Gardens, not sure these goals are included?

Out of interest how many of Brooks goals have been Pens?

I'm pretty sure Brooksy is missing one Goal, Mr X I think Brooksy has 3 Pens.
My money is on Brooksy for the Golden Boot way too much experience....

SAASL updated goal scorers on web today then if you read the r15 review and do the math. Brooksy 10 + 5 vs vale = 15

Oldredback no fence sitter all 3 players have been in good scoring form. In recent years it's been clearly won don't know the last time it was shared Swanny may have the history.

Football is a strange game...when Knights were at the hands of a 9-0 drubbing from Salisbury Inter, the result was quite surprising as everytime Inter attacked they seemed to finish up with a goal....often games like that can finish up only 1-0.
I imagine Gardens had one of those days where they played well and everything just happens to go their way.
West Beach have only let in 2 more goals than the Vale so far and lost to Gardens 1-2 in round 7 and usually put up a good fight.

If Boree plays the remaining games then he'll win it, his goal scoring record (per game) is exemplary compared to the other contenders. Brooksy is a consistent goal scoring gun, but Boree has barely played half a season for his tally. Brooksy will get the most chances and is more than capable, Boree has played in a mediocre side yet he has still managed to scored plenty, Luke Air has been consistently scoring so he's a chance. I don't see Matteo winning it, in my opinion he's played above his capabilities as it is this year, but I guess his good year could continue.

Raeed for Gardens in the Div 8 goalscorers is clear on 18 & only played first 9 games plus last round. Pondy hasnt scored since Rnd 11 but could possibly win all three. Next round will be interesting after last weeks 21-3 effort.

Spot on Tibbaw i like ur comment. Playing in a mediocre side with 16 goals in 9 games im pretty happy with that but winning the golden boot this year i would have to say NO but maybe next year :P

Depends if you'd prefer a striker who scores 2 or 3 bags in the season or you'd prefer a striker who scores almost on a weekly basis?

As a striker the goals you score are the final product of the team. Im sure whoever finishes top will do so deservedly, but I can tell you tht if I cld give back the 23 goals I scored last year to win the League/cup double tht the gardens won then take away as many as you like because the goals I score contribute to the teams success and if you dont have team success then its all for nothing.
If I happen to go close this year the only thing tht will make it worth while is if we can achieve wht we have set out to do, TEAM success in the league, cup and hopefully CoC bcoz thts why I play to win things not to finish Golden Boot

I'd be dissappointed if this is Boree and I was playing for the Grove. Grove don't pretend to be world beaters and they had 1 ambition this year, stay up. They are trying to build long term and good on them for that.

16 goals in a mediocre side is a good effort! but boree would be on 25 goals this year if he put away all the goals that so called mediocre side created for him!
Grove arent the best side in the league but a mediocre side possibly finishing top 5 there 1st year in div 1 for 12 years doesnt sound to bad.
personally i think we have a decent team capable of taking points off all teams in div 1 on our day. Staying up was our ambition for the year which we have done and pulled some really good results while doing so.
