Asteras...
Did they forfeit against port pirie last weekend?
That's about 7 games they have forfeited this year!!!
Should para hills even bother turning up this week? Seems unlikely that asteras will be in attendance lol!

Re: Asteras...
as far as i can remember it is the first time the a's have forfeited. and there was a valid excuse for it. don't rock up this week at your own risk. our club is clearly struggling and for the last couple of months you and that english clown have been having a sook since our b's didn't play against ya's....you struggling for goals or form mate
Re: Asteras...

Time for some righteous indignation
Re: Asteras...
i can't beleive you girls are still crying about the game on mothers day...that was 2 months ago.....spare a thought for the guys that are out there week in week out making an effort. the reason for the forfeit against pirie was due to a 1 month memorial service for one of the players mothers who is related to 5 other players in the team....but there is no need to give an explanation to you lot its not ur business...just be there on sunday and let your football do the talking......no one from para hills has said anything for the last 4 years all of a sudden you win a few games and ur full of words....
Re: Asteras...
firstly, this is only my second year at para hills. hence why i havent said anything for the last 4 years.
secondly, we didnt need to say anything last year because you guys didnt forfeit every second game

if that was the reason was there any attempt to communicate with the SAASL and Port Pirie and have the game moved to August 13th ( Cup Round)

You play 18 league games a season. If you can't provide players for the A's and B's for these games, then what is the point of being in the league in the first place?
It's pretty obvious Asteras should fold.
Re: Asteras...
straight out forfeiting so often without at least trying to reschedule (if the opposing team wants to) is pretty bad especially when goal difference can be so important and the 2-0 forfeit result doesn't justify the most likely outcome had the games been played
Re: Asteras...
especially when it can affect league titles, goal scoring titles, and further more in an A grade League Best and Fairest. Will Asteras compensate Port Pirie for loss of income ???Azza wrote:straight out forfeiting so often without at least trying to reschedule (if the opposing team wants to) is pretty bad especially when goal difference can be so important and the 2-0 forfeit result doesn't justify the most likely outcome had the games been played
Yes it may have been a 1 month service but as I mention before this would have been known before hand and the game could have and should have been re-scheduled for August 13th.

With all the forfeits it Would give an opportunity for some of these men to help their wife with the washing, cooking, cleaning and moping around the house instead of looking for a excuse such as amateur soccer to get away from the missus.

Re: Asteras...
We played Asteras in the last round of the first half of the season and they had issues with players turning up for the B's fixture (which as I understand was also due to some unfortunate circumstances which affected those 5 players). Our B's were changed and warming up when word came through that the game would be called off. Apparently they 'pooled their resources' so to speak to ensure that the A grade fixture went ahead.
After the initial disappointment of not playing (and the annoyance of having changed, lathered the deep heat and warmed up) I wasn't too bothered. Shit happens. I felt a bit sorry for the Asteras players who did roll up who have clearly endured a 'tough' season so far and continue to be let down with players not rolling up.
The only part that frustrates (and worries) me is that in the B's there are probably four teams including us that are in the mix to take out the title and these are the results:
Blue Eagles have won 10-1 and 14-0 (23 Goal +)
San Marco have won 12-0 and 11-3 (20 Goal +)
TTG have won 13-3 (10+ with another fixture to come).
We have 2+ from the forfeit and we play them last game of the season which I have a really bad feeling will be another forfeit.
Whether they field a team from here on in is irrelevant, I think all of their fixtures should be wiped from the B's table because there is a real chance that it will affect the league winner. I think it should also be done NOW so that all teams are aware and that it is not left till after a team think they have won the league only to have it taken away in a slow moving appeals process.

Re: Asteras...
Well obviously points are the main objective, and anything can happen in 6 games so I am not totally writing off other teams, but the point I am trying to illustrate is that it is a bad idea to 'wait and see'. Should two teams finish on equal points and one team lose the league due to goal difference directly caused by a forfeit it is a pretty ugly end. It is bad enough that you only get a 2-0 win in years where the bottom team gets beat by 3 or 4 each week, Asteras are averaging 8.5 goals against over there 12 games so far and Blue Eagles gaining +23 when we may only get +4 is farcical.Rodent wrote:MUNNO PARA 12 9 2 1 52 9 43 29On The Pine wrote:We played Asteras in the last round of the first half of the season and they had issues with players turning up for the B's fixture (which as I understand was also due to some unfortunate circumstances which affected those 5 players). Re: Asteras...
Doesnt surprise me that they just dont rock up for B's games. They did the same in the last game of last season the B's team just didnt turn up or even notify anyone that they werent coming. Even there A side didnt know that they werent coming. Its not good to see that they are still doing it this season. Asteras your just making it hard and extrememly annoying for all the other teams in your div.

Re: Asteras...
What I meant by 'slow moving appeals process' is that I would hate to see the league decided by goal difference on the last day and for it to cost someone the league, and then for animosity and uncertainty to linger whilst teams appeal etc.Aldo Serena wrote:The only way this will happen is if Asteras pull out of the league altogether. On The Pine wrote:Whether they field a team from here on in is irrelevant, I think all of their fixtures should be wiped from the B's table because there is a real chance that it will affect the league winner. That is why it would be good to see their results pulled now, it would be good to go into the last day and know exactly where the bar sits in terms of what is required and I dont think that it is fair that Asteras results are counted if they have not played all teams the same amount of times. I know the current scenario benfits your team in a huge way, but I think you would be able to see where I am coming from.

Re: Asteras...
No I wouldn't. Firstly who really enjoys playing in one sided pumpings? it's better than nothing but I don't think too many get much out of it.
Secondly (and most importantly) if the league act now it makes it a level playing field for all. If they cancel results against (which doesn't mean the remaining games can't be played, just not counted) and we get to the end of the year and fall short on goals then somebody else rightfully deserves the league.
As it sits anyway we are second on goal difference to Blue Eagles (behind by 14) despite only getting 2-0 for the forfeit whilst they have profited to the tune of 23 from two fixtures against them. Take these goals away and we would be sitting on 41 and they would be sitting on 34.
