Re: SSG for u12 in 2012?
All the info out of FFSA and FFA state up to now state, SSF is
Under 6/7 4V4 30x20M pitch
Under 8/9 7v7 40x30M pitch approx
Under 10/11 9V9 50X40M pitch approx
Under 12 11V11 big pitch
So the answer to your question is No (unless a change happens to what they have been saying and doing over the last 2 to 3 years)

I would love it to happen though ................. I still think u12 on full size pitch is too soon

Especially with some of the larger big pitches around the place 11v11 on a 3 quarter sized pitch would be my preference for 12's and maybe even the 13's.Zeljko Jurin wrote:I would love it to happen though ................. I still think u12 on full size pitch is too soon

plenty big enough, have you seen the size of some of these lads. the open spaces surely makes it easier for them to pass the ball, that helps with their development.
the only problem i have seen is that its hard on most goalkeepers as most shots high enough go in quite easy.

If something is 'easier', will it still help someone 'develop'................???????????blue moon wrote:plenty big enough, have you seen the size of some of these lads. the open spaces surely makes it easier for them to pass the ball, that helps with their development.

My lad's a slow grower so I can see him lost on the big pitch next year.

No, reckon 12's is when they should be getting used to the real thing. Only based on personal experience. Bit like going to high school, you dont wanna get stuck into what the "little kids" are doing. Yes, I know 11/12 year olds are still in primary school, but any decent players are beginning to show by then and need to face reality.

You have to draw the line somewhere. I think 12's are ready to play proper comp, proper size pitches etc. Even SASI has 14 year olds playing there, so surely these players should be given a year or two on normal pitches etc. Just my opinion.Zeljko Jurin wrote:Past experience????..... that was 30+ years ago, times are changing .....Bomber wrote:No, reckon 12's is when they should be getting used to the real thing. Re: SSG for u12 in 2012?
I think the general concensus is that the ideal size pitch for u/12s is between 3/4 and full size. Agree with Bomber, as SASI are picking kids at a younger age, and skillaroos are u/13s, the kids have to start getting use to the requirements of playing on 'bigger' pitches.
Re: SSG for u12 in 2012?
IMO U/12's should be 3/4 pitch 11v11, then progress to full 11v11 for u/13's

Quite right blue moon the bigger pitch gives them room to play the passing game and there are already some pretty big lads for 11 and 12 year olds although I would keep corners at three quarters distance.
Just because things have moved on in the last 30 years also doesn't necessarily mean they have changed for the better.
