B Team Referee's

Post by Tackler »

I know the B Team Home Ref's on here from time to time get a roasting,
this is my first year playing B's and my experiences so far are that they have been very good.
Honest mistakes have been made but overall the standard has been very high,
even better 'I think' than most official A team Ref's!
Is the standard better this season, what are your thoughts?

Apart from the B ref for Florina who is the biggest cheat the rest have been ok.

Haven't played at Vale yet this year and if Eddie is still doing it for the B's then we expect him to cheat as he normally does - he was an absolute disgrace last year when we played up there.

I've been playing Sat Div 2 B's, and the standard does seem pretty good.

The club refs do have their oddities, but when you look through it to the decisions they make, they get it mostly right, and are pretty even handed. For example, the ref we had on the weekend let a lot go, and we were annoyed until we realised he was letting it go both ways, and used that.

Having said that, I don't think you can compare first team and reserves refs. It's like players. You can't say a 20 goal a season striker in the reserves is better than a 10 goal a season striker in the firsts, because the guy in the firsts is operating under completely different pressures, and amongst players with (mostly) more guile, pace, and desire.

The B grade ref for the Vale who did the game against us, was probably the best club referee we have had since it started.

Port Piries would have to be the worst.

Adam does a fantastic job for the Vale reserves.

Yeah, for the away team :D

He's doing very well this year, but often gives soft fouls agaisnt us to not look bias. 1002125450125454% better then Eddie

I think most of the B's and C's refs we've had this year have been good.

From an Ingle Farm point, I think Leon in the C's has been doing a fantastic job. He plays the advantage rule very well, speaks to the players well without any fanfare. As bad as it will be for us to lose him, he should go and be an actual referee.

Maybe we should pinch him too like your B's ref :D

I did enjoy being ref but its nice to be playing instead but will ref again full time when I retire from playing.

Downs B ref was disgraceful a few weeks ago. An opposition player received a shin high studs up challenge that tore his sock and chipped away the foam on the side of his shin pad. When he showed the ref and asked if he was going to produce a card for the challenge the ref told him to buy new shin pads.

Swanny, that's one of the guys off our Brighton Forum (Fatboy Slim used to have a shirt sponsorship by Skint records).

By the way, mate, sorry about the Udders......they should have made it on merit ;-)

Couldn't have been that bad. From memory he played the rest of the game out. Also remember that same ref also kept one of the florina boys on for a deliberate hand ball. Should have been his second yellow!

Maco's ref last year was shocking. Another candidate today with the easties ref blatantly cheating the whole game.

the worst ref i have ever seen, the player marking me in the reserves actually asked to be taken off cos his own ref was that blatant that he didnt want to be a part of

i found myself (as the gk) going up to oppositions teams at home and having to apologize to the teams before the match because i knew what was coming. the msg was simple, as much as he will probably ref bad, dont talk to him at all, he gets side tracked and will send you off for nothing! felt ashamed half the time to say it was a club ref. club was fine, but the ref...

Masks ref in the B's was as bad as it gets swearing at our players cheating from start to finish making things up

He then ran the line in the first team and was constantly overruled by referee

As disgrace to the game

He did however win a Bilbo Baggins look a like competition
