Translation: check out my website.
I don't just want to have my cake and eat it, I want to go back for cheesy biscuits and tiramisu.

3-2 win vs Mexico and a 2-0 win vs England in the Matildas 2 warm up games, good results which should boost their confidence ahead of the big one against Brazil.

Does anybody else feel a certain buzz about the Matildas for this World Cup? I think the chosen squad, although young and some inexperienced, is great. I think we have a good depth in the squad. We have creative players, players with flair and goal scorers which is something we have lacked in previous squads. I personally think Australia is going to go really far in this competition and even if we dont, our players are so young that we can keep them together for at least another 2 world cup campaigns. Its a good stepping stone for Australia and i think we are finally starting to get it right.

What do you guys think?

Big game at 2am, looking forward to it. I think the Matildas will be able to squeeze a draw out of this :D

FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011.

MATILDAS coach Tom Sermanni was disappointed not to have taken a point from their World Cup opener against Brazil - but delighted by the impressive performance by his girls.
The Australians were defeated 1-0 after a second half goalmouth scramble saw the Matildas fail to clear their lines and Brazil's Rosana pounced on the chance to finish beautifully.

But the young Aussie side put in a five star performance against the tournament favourites and created plenty of chances to level the scores but were let down by poor finishing.

After the game, Sermanni admitted the game had been "...frustrating.

"But it was a great effort from the players," he said. "I think we achieved a lot out of the game today.

"Obviously disappointed in the result but I think we showed - and been acknowledged by the people here - the quality of the type of football that we've tried to play.

"And you know we just nearly got something at the end."

The Scots-born coach admitted he was "very proud" of the squad, and especially the raw recruits to the side like 16 year old Caitlin Foord who shone at right back, tackling Brazil's Marta, hailed as a female Messi.

"Fantastic," he said. You're up against one of the tournament players, the best player in the world, and I think for long periods of the game, we more than held our own.

"I'm very proud of the effort, very proud of the performance, and a little bit disappointed that we didn't get anything out of the game."

He added: It was a poor goal to concede but there were chances at both ends so if you don't concede that goal something else might happen.

"Obviously the players will be very disappointed with the goal we conceded, but that's football.

"We just need to focus on our next game and win our games against Equitorial Guinea and Norway and then hopefully proceed from there."

Kyah Simon joined the praise for her team-mates and was already looking forward to tackling the two remaining games to take them to the quarter finals.

"Both teams had their chances," she said. "Brazil just were lucky enough to finish one of them and we didn't get to finish our chances at the end of the day

"But it was a good game and the girls fought to the end and it was a good preparation for the next two games."

She added: "At the start of the game all the youngsters came together and said we're just going to go out there and play football. At the end of the day it just another game of football.

"Brazil were the opposition but we had to play our game and do what we do and nullify their strengths. All credit to the girls, we fought to the end and were unlucky not to come away with a result.

"We'll look at the game and take away a few pointers and see what we can do better in the next two games.

"But hopefully we can come away with wins in the next two games and you'll see us in the quarter finals."

The goalkeeper is the jewel in the crown and getting at him should be almost impossible. It's the biggest sin in football to make him do any work.

the atmosphere at the game was amazing. 27000 people, 20000 probs going for brazil.
that was the best i have ever seen the matildas play, and most of us over here agree with that. 2 minutes of brain fade by us and brazil made the most of it.

my best for aust in no real order´- <FOORD- 16 yrs old and instructed to mark marta. excellent job, and good initiative in going fwd. small mistakes made but that will be fixed with experience. v strongon the ball and wasnt pushed around!
BUTT- not one of my fav players but moved the ball fwd well and was hard in to tackles. good crosses in also. her and foord linked well.
MCCALLUM- although seeming quiet, when the girls played her the ball we all had this feeling around the place that it was in safe hands. when the girls got a bit silly and carried away, she slowed the game and kept it all in control.

judging by the norway, EQ guinea game, we should be able to thump both of them...

I only saw the highlights, looked like Aust. had more scoring opportunities, enough to win the game, which in some ways is good, however we came away with no points.
Brazilians are renown for starting slow, doing just enough to get through, then turn it up a notch or two in later rounds,we will wait and see.

Rather then feeling good and saying we only lost 1-0, I hope they are hurting some, and saying we couldve won that game, because that is the attitude they will need to go out with in their next match, which wont be easy, judging by the highlights.

E.Guinea are very fast on the break, will be interesting to see what tactics / lineup / formation Tom has to deal with that.

I've enjoyed it so far, hopefully we will beat Norway rather than draw.

I think the EG game was lame from the refs end but we also f'ed up with defensive lapses, unforgivable! (mind you someone could have called man on, this is taught from u9s)
