Mount barker united soccer club 2011
The crusaders have decided to join the CSL this season and wish all the best to the SAASL . We look forward to the new challenges with a new coach and a new league. We hope to be entering four teams this season as we have interest from 65 plus players.

Strange how the CSL is filling up with teams that arent affiliated with any schools or universities.
Might be time to change the name of the league to ML .

For your information Mount Barker Soccer Club are affiliated with Cornerstone College in Mount Barker . Which happens to have one of the best condition ovals in Adelaide designed and constructed by no other than Mr Les Burdett
Re: Mount barker united soccer club 2011
Is this the first step towards transitioning to the State League.
It would make sense, Mt Barker would have to be one of the big population growth areas in the greater metropolitan area.

You'd imagine Hills Hawks would take care of that representation.Brian_7 wrote:Is this the first step towards transitioning to the State League.

Re: Mount barker united soccer club 2011
I get what you are saying Lucas but Mt Barker is growing at a rate of knots and have a fairly sizable junior base that after 5 or so years in the collegiates would be able to transition into the state league. They may not ever get into the Super League but they would have as much to offer the State League as a Gawler or Nothern Demons.
Re: Mount barker united soccer club 2011
The juniors numbers at Mt Barker have demanded more attention to be paid to the senior team for years - I hate to think how many decent players have gone elsewhere for lack of seniors - or because I couldn't track them down!Brian_7 wrote:I get what you are saying Lucas but Mt Barker is growing at a rate of knots and have a fairly sizable junior base that after 5 or so years in the collegiates would be able to transition into the state league. Good luck guys.

Where did Mt Barker play last season and what was the appeal of the CSL compared to what they had previously?

Sounds good so far. Clubroom/changerooms, other facilities ok? If so, and you have the numbers, cant see why you wouldnt at least consider FFSA as long as you know what you are getting into! Not Ideal.....Good surface but is an AFL oval on a plateau, kick the ball too hard and it is a long wait for retrieval.Bomber wrote:Sounds good so far. Clubroom/changerooms, other facilities ok? Large junior base? Music to everyone's ears Good luck on the journey through...I'm sure in 5 years you'll have more to offer than 50% of the teams playing above you!Brian_7 wrote:I get what you are saying Lucas but Mt Barker is growing at a rate of knots and have a fairly sizable junior base that after 5 or so years in the collegiates would be able to transition into the state league. Yes, I believe they would have been in Division 4 this year. With them gone, and Chinese Dragons going to Sunday league,Division 4 Saturday comp. is looking a bit light on.Kitchimo wrote:Weren't they relegated?Rob Lozza wrote:Saturday Divison 3Piker wrote:Where did Mt Barker play last season...

So Mt Barker are unable to cope with Div 3 Saturday & instead of slipping away quietly to the CSL with their tails between their legs they claim it as some sort of great achievement, the first step in their grand plan for world domination?

Re: Mount barker united soccer club 2011
Simba of Congo pulled out of Sat Div 3 at the start of last year (so we got promoted by default ) to join the collegate league and I bumped into one of the guys and they were saying the same thing, they wanna join the state league despite having no juniors or a U19 team which I believe is a prerequisite to play federation.otto62 wrote:So Mt Barker are unable to cope with Div 3 Saturday & instead of slipping away quietly to the CSL with their tails between their legs they claim it as some sort of great achievement, the first step in their grand plan for world domination?

Mr Crusader, congratulations and welcome aboard. As you have already been told we will ensure you have referees for all your games. Do not worry yourself with the comments from others on this forum, who do not play in any league that is recognised or worthy of a mention.
Well done on your decision and hopefully others will also follow soon.

Good luck MT Barker, carter will lead you well, so long as the garden path is where you want to be led.
Re: Mount barker united soccer club 2011
Thankyou Mr Carter, we look forward to the challenge and the future of MBUSC. The senior commitee has worked hard over the last couple of years and this is the direction that we have chosen to secure the future for the club. We will nopw be under the same umbrella as our juniors which should make recruiting them easier .I believe that some people will question our motives but they will someday see that this was a good move. Re: Mount barker united soccer club 2011
It is a good move. It suits the structure of the Hills area football. There is the FFSA Premier League Hills Hawks, a multitude of amateur teams of varying standards and now Mt Barker slotting into the Collegiate league. Something for everybody.
The is all built upon the foundations of a great junior association.
The great things about the Hills is that no matter your age or ability you can get a game of football. On the plains outside the northern area there is a real shortage of football for players aged 13-18 if you are not able to get a spot at FFSA clubs.

Not the first team that has performed poorly, then joined the FFSA and I remember a recent FFSA team that joined the SAASL then struggled.
Good luck to them, if being more competitive is their aim, then probably a wise move
