FFSA ground!lfc cfc wrote:have seen the recent development at the springbank shops in burton and have been wondering which club is doing this it looks like a good facility! can anyone shed any light on this for me!
I believe tender went out & only FFSA clubs would be considered. I think Salisbury Inter womans team (play under SAWSA) will be training/playing at the ground not sure of any other applicants considering Salisbury, Playford even Gawler already have suitable facilities
Apparently lots of juniour FFSA run football clinics will be held at the facility

Big waste of FFSA funds if you ask me

No, there was always two proposals. One at Burton, and the GX one. The GX one was dependent on State and Commonwealth funding and from memory the proposal came out just before the State election....

Salisbury Fed should move there. Their current facilities at Steve Jarvis are decent, but the grounds are terrible.robinfriday10 wrote:Salisbury training??

The facility is through Salisbury Council and they gave FFSA the 'head lease'.... they won't allow any SAASL clubs or matches to be played there

Re: Burton ground development which club is it?
I was told by someone from Salisbury Utd (he should know what he is talking about) that Steve Jarvis Park is getting it's pitch relaid and also the Burton complex, will be used by there FFSA junior teams and some senior trainings.

With the exception of those amateur clubs associated with E & D, the commitment of the SAASL to junior development is legendary.

Re: Burton ground development which club is it?
I'm really angry as a rate payer at why the City of Salisbury would spend a $ 1,000,000.00 Plus in developing a facility for the F.F.S.A.??? When the MAJORITY of clubs in there Council Area are S.A.A.S.L & E.&.D Clubs?
They have Built a Grandstand??? For Who???
Most of the S.A.A.S.L & E.&.D Clubs in there Council area need alot of work & most are substandard but they wont upgrade because they have no money to spend???
Just Crazy!!!

Re: Burton ground development which club is it?
If it is for Salisbury Juniors then its definitely a step in the wrong direction. Moving a junior club away from its seniors setup and home ground only splinters the club. I'm sure many will agree, whether you are SAASL or FFSA that juniors need to be an inherent part of any club setup and have that 'one' club feeling about it.
Stating the bleeding obvious but todays Juniors are the future champions of this great game and nothing drives a wedge in more than the juniors not seen by the seniors and vice versa.
It also makes sense financially because you are not stocking 2 canteens, 2 lots of toilets, 2 sets of everything etc, etc.
Nugget and Lefty know this for sure, as do clubs like the Downs, Farm, Vista, Gully.
Modbury Jets are hoping to eventually get a paddock that is home to all involved (so that the Junior parents can drink the coffee from the coffee machine that the club bought with the money the juniors won from an Adelaide Utd game last year)!!!!!
Para Hills have had this sort of facility for some time (although showing its age) and it works, both onfield and off field.

Re: Burton ground development which club is it?
agree with your comments but as the e&d salisbury take up the outside pitches there is a lot of teams to wear out 1 pitch for salisbury feds.
i'm not sure all the training will be away from the main ground but from what i've been told the 19s trained on half of a half all last year and that is not in the best interest. and after a big grant to upgrade the pitch it was overused and it was back to square one.

lets hope so. huge waste of what will hopefully be a great facility if it isn't. Real shame that no club will truly be able to call it home though.robinfriday10 wrote:apparently will be utilised every night....?

Re: Burton ground development which club is it?
If Salisbury United is going to get the use of the ground it's a absolute joke, they just received a truck load of money not so long ago from the Council for re-development of there Club Rooms & Grounds, it's not right that some clubs get council help some dont???
There so many Clubs in City of Salisbury Council area that are providing services to the Community right NOW & have been for years & doing it in old, tied & worn out facilities like ours. Instead of helping the Majority by improving there facilities the Council in there wisdom spend Millions of Dollars on a new facility with-in 10-15 minutes drive from 10 of those Clubs that need assistance,
They build a Grandstand for what & who??? FFSA??? What only to be fenced like Steve Jarvis Park.
YEH GREAT COMMUNITY FACILITY!!!
You won't even be able to take your kids accross the park for a kick on a sunday???

Re: Burton ground development which club is it?
Didn't that truck load of money come from Mr rudd's generous handouts also??(which we are now paying for in our mortgage increases!!) Don't think the council had much say as the money was spent on the FFSA and due to the SAASL, E&D not jumping into bed with Mr carter and co. the money was only ever going to spent on FFSA facilities as the FFA wouldn't release funds to anyone else.
money has been spent on numerous grounds, PHE, PHW, Salisbury east and this would have been through grants more so than coming out of council funds. Council more likely to be spending their funds on posting off grounds, recycled water, maintenance etc.
Any clubs using the facility at Burton are more than likely going to have to pay for it(FFSA wouldn't have it any other way as it is their facility and not the councils as far as i know)
Would have thought your club would be a chance of funding with the amount of teams both boys, girls and mens, BUT has the current government spent all the money??maybe its more of a Federal/State issue than Local. Least you've got one of the best playing surface in the league, could be worse in a tiny clubroom playing on a slope
