Salisbury United FC together with Football Federation SA (FFSA) will be hosting a series of free ‘Small Sided Football Come’n’Try’ days for all Under 6 to Under 11 boys and girls. The come’n’try sessions will be held at Steve Jarvis Park, Decimal Rd, Salisbury North on the following days:

* Saturday 9th October
* Saturday 16th October
* Saturday 23rd October

Any players wanting to register to play football (soccer) for Salisbury United are invited to attend at the following times, with each session lasting approximately 1 hour:

* Under 6 and Under 7 9.30am
* Under 8 and Under 9 10.30am
* Under 10 and Under 11 11.30am

Children from the surrounding community will be provided with the opportunity to play and experience modified football (soccer) games in either 4v4 (U6 & U7), 7v7 (U8 & U9) or 9v9 (U10 & U11) formats.

Players of any ability, regardless of previous experience or skill level are invited to attend. The emphasis is based around the concept of fun and enjoyment through maximum participation. All newly registered U6’s receive a free Optus Small Sided Football Kit containing a bag, t-shirt and ball.

The benefits of small sided football (soccer) include:

• More touches of the ball by all players throughout all areas of the pitch
• More shots on goal and 1 v 1 opportunities
• Repeated decision-making experience
• The ball is in play far more often
• The emphasis is on player development rather than winning or losing
• Better success rate leads to improved quality of play, self-esteem and player retention
• The game is easier to understand
• Freedom of expression – no positions in early stages
