Mariners v Hearts - Why not a penalty?????
Just wondering if anyone saw the red card for Beauchamp?
Red card for headbutting but then Peter Green gave a free kick outside the box????
The headbutt happened closer to the 6 yard line than the 18 yard line - anyone know what happened here?

Was the ball out of play when Beauchamp headbutted him?
A couple seasons ago Theoklitos was dismissed for stomping on a players foot. Fair enough for thinking it should be a penalty being in the box, however because it was a corner and ball out of play, a penalty can't be awarded.

Then the restart should've been a throw in or corner or whatever the decision with ball out of play... but the restart was a free kick to mariners just outside the box!!!!!!Red-4-Life wrote:Was the ball out of play when Beauchamp headbutted him?

It doesn't matter where the ball was at the time!!! Having said that even if it was out of play the restart is still incorrect!!Red-4-Life wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2DP7Qxzzrg go to 1:35

if the ball is out of play when it happens then the restart would be as it normally would be..throw in, goal kick whatever.rooboy1986 wrote:It doesn't matter where the ball was at the time!!! Re: Mariners v Hearts - Why not a penalty?????
Hard to tell on just that, ie you can't see what happened seconds before that which may be what the free kick was for.

I just cannot believe that absolutely no one has said anything? I hope his match inspector reports the incident... he should recieve "a rest" for such a blatantly incorrect call...Red-4-Life wrote:I just saw it now on the highlights show....interesting!
I think the incident would've garnered a lot more coverage if the scores were equal at the final whistle!
Re: Mariners v Hearts - Why not a penalty?????
I've just seen it. The ball definitely wasn't out of play at the time. The referee can restart play with an indirect free kick if he has to stop play to award a card to a player when no foul has taken place but surely a headbutt is a foul and a penalty should have been awarded if that's what the referee saw. I think the Mariners player (Bozanic???) stuck out his foot in the entanglement prior to that (see the footage from behind the goal) so if anything the free kick should have gone the other way.
