Can see the slide tackle rule being a problem now that it's legal you'll see some terrible challenges. It's good that you can take free kicks after the whistle though

It doesn't allow for any free-kick to be taken after the final whistle in the normal run of the clock game.

These laws need to be interpretted in line with a stop clock match where the clock is stopped with seconds remaining.

If the ball is not released before time expires then it is not allowed to be taken. Exceptions to this are penalties & kicks from the second penalty mark (6th foul+).

All free kicks are assessed as Careless, reckless or using excessive force. If a player chooses to play in this manner he is only going to be sent off, so why would you do slide tackle in this way knowing that you are going to get a red card?
