SUN DIV 3 - PROMOTION vs RELEGATION

Post by Southern Style »

With 5 games to go in the 2010 season, Sun Div 3 looks like there may be a few battles at the top and bottom for relegation

SUN DIV 3 A P W D L GF GA GD Pts
BRAHMA LODGE 13 9 3 1 37 17 20 30
MUNNO PARA 14 9 1 4 32 23 9 28
MSSC BLUE EAGLES 14 7 3 4 37 28 9 24
BEOGRAD 13 6 5 2 43 27 16 23
SAN MARCO 13 6 4 3 26 16 10 22
STH COAST UTD 13 4 3 6 21 31 -10 15
ASTERAS 13 4 3 6 29 42 -13 15
P/HILLS LIONS 13 4 2 7 24 32 -8 14
PLYMPTON 13 2 2 9 16 35 -19 8
NOARLUNGA 13 0 4 9 22 36 -14 4

With Asteras Starting to Find some good form and Sth Coast picking up points it will be a tight finish considering the bottom half have to play each other a few times before the season finishes

At the top, it looks like Brahma have it in the bag but any team in the top half are just as good on their day

Any thoughts??????

5 games is a long way to go.

just a point though . i think the league table is incorrect.

Blue Eagles and Munno Para play each other this weekend so Munno Para are 5 points behind us not 2

The table is incorrect, SAASL are fixing the issue.

In my opinion, Noarlunga have Brahma this week and then Munno Para, so can't see them staying up. Plympton have Beograd away, and then us, so can't see them getting anything out of those two games.

Brahma will finish top (easy run home), but Beograd is the best team I have seen this year. I rate our chances, but we do play three of the top 5 in the run home.

Will Beograd play their catch-up game due to this week's cup game mid-week, or at the end of the season??

I think they wanted to play the cup game mid-week, and play as usual on Sunday. But looks like the Downs didn't oblige.

We never spoke to the Downs. The League informed us the cup overrides the league.
We havnt spoken to Plympton yet but most likely the game would be made up at the end of the season.

Tight call really. Some teams seem to only play when they want to, but, it is only div 3 so this may be why.
Brahma and Blue Eagle IMO. Beograd will have a big say also, and if they can get this player shortage issue sorted then something may come of it.
Plympton and Noarlunga to go down. Not necessarily because they are the worse sides either. Just seem to have struggled picking up any consistent points.
Looking forward to seeing how it all pans out.
Good luck to all 8)

From the games I've seen this year Beograd have been one of the best attacking teams on the park and it shows with the highest goals for in Div 3. The first half against Blu Eagles on Sunday was very very even so agree on any given Sunday results can go either way.

Can't see Noarlunga staying up and it would take a miracle for Plympton to stay up given they have Beograd, Blue Eagles and Brahma still to play. I didn't get to see us play Noarlunga Iand wont this week as I'm coaching the girls team at 1pm) but thought Plympton at their ground weren't too bad.

Why would they oblige? bad enough for them to draw away let alone a mid week game...

Brahma for the title.....

I reckon this year Brahma are going to forfil their potential and take out the league.

Come on Brahma :!:
I'm very happy to have moved to West Ham, because I can play for a better team than Sheffield Wednesday.

Brahma to quickly GTFO of div 3 - happy with that, dont rkn we've beaten Brahma in the last 3 years. Cant come soon enough!

If Munno Para can get at least a draw at Marden would expect them to hold on to 2nd considering their run home.

The battle for 3rd could be very important. Correct me if im wrong in the last 2 years - 3 teams have gone up in div 3? Whats the status of Port Pirie in D2? Looks like they may avoid relegation. But are they staying in amateurs? Are they staying in Sunday leagues?

Beograd and Blue Eagles very deserving both top teams. Havent yet seen San Marco up close, so cant comment on them. But you'd be just about drawing straws between those 3 for those 3rd I rkn.

3 would have went up last year but Port Pirie went into the 2nd div.it all depends if a current 2nd div side moves or folds

Brahma Definitely to go up, to be joined by Beograd or Blue Eagles, too close to call there!!! Munno Para to finish 4th- bad slump at the wrong time of the season!!!

Noarlunga and Plympton to go down!!!!

pirie will stay in div 2 look a good side now and have settled well in saasl

bosna, who don't look in relegations worries, are the ones to watch as have struggled for players this season, plus we have to see what happens out of the fiasco at raptors with the called off game, maybe 3 will go up

Dont know much about MP,apart from when we played them in a pre-season trial game about 6 years ago- their Reserves Coach came up to our Coach, and said " Goodaye mate, I am sorry we are going to have to smash you lot today. " I thought then (maybe he is not there now ?) what a ridiculous thing to say, just fired us up. Our B's won 4-3,and our A's won 5-1. Judging by the way some of them carried on after they beat Brahma Lodge, you would've thought they won the title. I think that is where they have gone wrong, old cliche it's only one game, only 3 points, and if you dont back it up the following week with another 3 points, you havent achieved much at all.

Brahma 6pts clear of Blue Eagles, who in turn are 1pt clear of Munno Para. Munno Para also only sitting 3 pts clear of Beograd, but, Beograd have a game in hand against Plympton (who currently sit 2nd bottm). All makes for an interseting push for promotion IMO

Think this is the ladder, not sure why the saasl are finding it so hard to do:

Brahma 33 Points
Beagles 27 Points
Munno P 25 Points
Beograd 23 Points (1 game in hand)
San marco 22 points
Asteras 18 points
Para Hills 17 Points
South Coast 15 Points
Plympton 8 Points (1 game in hand)
Noarlunga 4 Points

But BPBC it's not in a spreadsheet with bold titles, underlined sections and with the goal difference. That's why it takes so long fo the SAASL to get it up there.

Starting to really shape up here..
Brahma looking for victory next week versus Para Hills to seal the title.
Blue Eagles slip up yesterday allows Beograd a chance to strike for promotion. San Marco nearly out of contention with the loss to Beograd, but Munno Para's win sees them fighting another day in the promotion race..
Getting tight and set up for an epic finish.
Good luck to all 8)

Not only is the Promotion Race Heating up but the Relegation battle becomes more interesting.

Noarlunga almost guaranteed to go down, but with who.....
Plympton won on the weekend to close the gap behind Sth Coast to 4points (plympton with a game in hand and a game against Noarlunga to come)

Keep an eye out in 2 weeks as Sth Coast and Plympton battle it out to survive in Div 3
