Ok well this is what we are left with
Lets assume that Germany win against Ghana and Serbia, if so......
We win against Ghana and lose to serbia.... All on 3 pts and comes down to goal difference.
We draw with Ghana and win against Serbia... Us and Ghana on 4 pts and down to goal difference.
We win against Ghana and draw with Serbia.... We are through.
This again, is all reliant on Germany winning all three games.
But then again, if we lose to Ghana we are out for good.

Even then they could still go out on goal difference.

uneducated idiots!
we got through last time on 4pts
there have been plenty of times when teams have got through on 3pts
but realistically with this goal difference we need a ghana win and a serbia draw at least to get through

4-6 pts possible.
Not sure if Germany will beat Serbia though, will be a close game for me.

Mathematically (although not in this group) a team can progress with just two points. A team can also be eliminated with six points (still possible in this group).

loss/draw against Ghana = World Cup over for Australia.

We cant make it with 2 points......
Virtually impossible for us to make it with 3 points.
That would require us to beat Ghana whilst losing to Serbia. Ghana would need to lose by a minimum of 5 goals in 2 games against Germany and Australia. Serbia would need to lose at least 4 nil against Germany. Possible but unlikely.
4 points is possible if Germany win all 3 games or draw with Serbia.
Six points is probably though we would be in trouble if Ghana beat Germany in the last game.

a win against ghana and a draw against serbia will be enough to get us through
germany are a class above all three other teams and will win all three

Let's take it chronologically:
(a) this Friday night 18th June (9pm Adelaide time) Germany will eliminate Serbia;
(b)this Saturday night 19th June (11.30 pm Adelaide time) we will only draw with Ghana;
(c) Thursday morning (4am Adelaide time) will Germany only narrowly beat Ghana because Germany will rest some stars as they are guaranteed top spot?
AND, (d) the BIG question . Will down-and-out Serbia bother to compete against OZ in a dead rubber for them? Can OZ sneak a win?
If everything above falls into place it's down to goal diff with Ghana and OZ. Now, how do I place this multi-scenario bet?

this mathematics is all ridiculous and the last bastion of fools
the Socceroos have to beat Ghana first and that is looking like a very difficult task seeing as how disorganized and non-competitive this team has become

My tip.......
Serbia will beat Germany, and the whole group is faarked, and so are all your mathematic equations !!

Fail. Germany cannot eliminate Serbia. A Serbian loss could see them eliminated if Ghana get something out of the game against Austalia.

Here's a great new idea.
Win and the maths takes care of itself.
Winning is better than losing.

the math now looks like this, to get through we need to win and....
ghana beat germany
ghana and germany draw and we win by 7 goals
germany beat ghana by...
1 and we win by 4
2 and we win by 3
3 and we win by 2
4 and we win by 1
so essentially we have to make up five goals, so we are cheering for a ghana win by anything, or for germany to smash ghana
AND WE HAVE TO WIN!!!!!!!!

we're not going to win by any more than a goal or two if we even win at all
only scenario possible is if Ghana win..or Germans smash Ghana worse than they smashed us

we looked good when we were attacking and only when we dropped off after the goal did Ghana really get into the match
if we have to keep our foot flat the whole match that could work in our favour
