AC Milan put a troubled summer behind it to defeat Lazio at the San Siro, while Marco Bresciano's Palermo and Reggina fought out a thriller, and newly promoted Atalanta scored a first-up win over Ascoli as the Serie A's first round concluded.
At the Stadio Renza Barbero, Bresciano was on target early, firing Palermo ahead in the 11th minute as the Sicilian club started effectively before defeating Reggina 4-3 in a nervous finish.
Goals to Giuseppe Biava and Eugenio Corini following Bresciano's score saw Palermo lead by three goals, but a hat-trick to Reggina's Rolando Bianchi almost saw the southern Italian side earn a point but for a second half goal to Carvalho Amauri.
The result was a tough one on Reggina as the club was implicated in the Serie A match fixing scandal and therefore starts off with a 15-point penalty.

Yeh good way to start his new adventure at Palermo, great goal, too bad he had to do it against Reggina, and apparently he was dangerous all game, I think he is playin in his favoured central attacking midfield pos, not on the wing like for Australia. Maybe he could have done it for Australia if he wasn't on the bench, he only got a good run against Italy and he had Zambrotta to deal with again playing on the wing, bad match up by Hiddink in that case.
