Sat Div 5 & 6 interchange

Post by gooner4life »

Can anyone confirm if as per the over 35's league Sat Div 5 and 6 will be allowed to play interchange this year?

the idea of interchange.

I could understand in the O35 leagues but football is played for 45 minutes and contains substitutes not interchange. If you're not fit enough, don't play. It's that simple.

I think you will find for some clubs it's not about fitness, it's about giving the opportunity to play as many as of their players as possible for the most amount of time. At C team level we are offten talking about players new to the game and of variying skill levels, if they can be encouraged to stay with the game and develop by being eased into the world of association football, then surly this is good for the game and not ridiculous at all. If we were talking about introducing it for "A" division football sure, but is that not why we have a tierd football system so that we can develop players and grow the game??? Lack of fitness and skill should not be prohibitive to playing the game, but rather things to work on and develop through playing the game!

I know my club thinks that way and I disagree.

As far as I am aware, these rules contravene the Laws of the Game.

Law 3 clearly mentions substitutes and not interchange. I believe there is something that says this can be changed for women, juniors and over 35's but not male adults.

I will stand corrected if I am ill informed.

Our club joined the C team comp knowing and appreciating an interchange.
We have a mixture of old and young players and we all have no complaints with its format.
Does anyone know how many subs you can either have on the bench or can use in a game?

that would still put them in breach of the LOTG, it would just mean no legal ramifications of the breach.

Why would they be in breach of the LOTG if they are not bound by them? (Colossus wink)

If I kiss a girl in a pub in Adelaide I am in breach of the laws of the UAE but I am not bound by them and will not be arrested and put in jail.

i never said they were bound by them but you did say they were not in b reach of them. Also if they do not adhere to the LOTG is the sport played in C team leagues actually still football.

Do they provide the laws to this sport "soccer" that they administer for?

I am concerned (as should you be as well) because I am allowed to referee for this sport but I am only qualified according to the LOTG of Association Football. When you next speak to SAASL, can you please ask them to provide me with a copy of "their" laws.

On one hand, they want club refs to be qualified according to the LOTG but then they want club refs to ignore them.

Shot myself in the foot! The SAASL's own rules (for 2009, accessible on their website) require the LOTG to be implemented. Obviously this was before interchange was/is being implemented for 2010.

Doesn't change anything though in relation to 'breaches'. Just means that the SAASL is inconsistent (which we all know is the case anyhow).

from a legal perspective, what constitutes a breach because if competition rules allow something not allowed in the LOTG, I would call that a "breach"?
