Disappointed Under 10

Post by Hollygirl »

How disappointing for my friends Under 10 son to find out only today that he has no team to play for. The child lives close to Noarlunga so decided to go out to Noarlunga United...

Suffice to say they took the money and the child expected he would be playing football this season...

He went for his fitting and was very excited about getting his uniform!!! Despite dads numerous phone calls to the club he had not been given a training date. While he knew at the beginning that the team was short on numbers the club said that it was not a problem and they would have a team...as recently as last week he was told the coach would contact him re training...today he finds out that there is no team!!!

Very poor form from Noarlunga United...how much work did they put in to finding the extra players required??? I notice that they are not listed on the fixtures I received last night so someone at the club must have known before today....

Try Cove or Seaford they're looking for U11's. Check out the FFSA website to find other clubs looking for players. I can tell you from experience that what has happened to this young lad is very common. I have found some clubs to be very unprofessional.

From what i hear they had a few come & try Sessions to try and fill teams, i agree quite late in the day to tell him, but maybe thats because they tried to sort it. i think there is a shortage of players in that age group, lots of clubs getting short of the younger age groups.

Down that way perhaps, but quite a few clubs fielding two teams in the U10 comp including South Adelaide?
Time for some righteous indignation

Maybe they all have gone to South. as last i heard seaford have no under 10's this year either and they had an abundance of under 9s last year. Think Cove have done well with numbers but they have kept there cost down right across the board. As i think that really helps with attracting the younger ones just starting out.

please note i am not in the southern sububrs but in regards to cove because they are an amature team the seniors are bundle with the costs of Seaford/Panters/Noarlunga as they federation clubs that is one of the main reason they are able to keep costs down

Try Maslins United. I hear that registration is cheap (but you don't get a kit)!

I viewed an as I understand current (as it has just been given to us) U10 fixtures list last night and I am sure I recall seeing Noarlunga on it?? ... I remember as having been used to being in the Central Zone its going to be a bit of a trip to get there ..somthing different so doesnt matter.

Would think there are still a few clubs looking for players in this age group so check with your local clubs

Noarlunga have a U9 and U11 squad but not an U10 squad.

Excellent news, I have been involved with clubs in the past who struggled to fill teams, and hung onto to the hope of getting enough players until too late, it almost seems harsh but a cutoff date might be a good idea...
