Who has the earliest pre-season?

Post by TheWingBack »

Who has the earliest pre-season? Just saw the Downs put their notice up for Jan 28, but is anyone starting earlier, or already started?

Glenunga Football Club (who share our ground and facilities) started preseason training in September

When I played amateurs I think pre-season was at the bar the week before season proper kicked off!

Their results would suggest so  But seriously, they've had guys out there doing pre-season since the first week of September, before we even finished our season.

Ours this year started at around this date. I think it did. All I remember is it was bloody hot and it almost killed me. Got no sympathy from the wife :D

Yep the boys(old men) are consistent, they celebrate if they kick a Goal...I think they have brought up the rear of the ladder for some time now.

I would say they are the junior grades trying to arrest their peers record performances.

Well Easties start early Jan. Probably around the 5th Jan. It is tough for those teams who are in the Mayors cup because it starts around the beginning of Feb.
Adelaide Uni are also starting early Jan so that DB can have a look at the cattle.

Im keen already!! Cant wait till it starts....

just in case they get to have a play off for the Div 2 spot with Port Pirie they want to be ready - they got as much chance of that as Ireland have of FIFA replaying the game against France!!!

What about over 35 league? I may be looking for a kick around with someone. Preferably in Holden Hill area or 10km radius.

Ingle Farm, TTG, Vista all have O35's that would be close to you.

Our Preseason for O35's kicks off the same time and the rest of the guys but preseason for O35's is completely optional.

I presume Vista or Ingle Farm being the closer? I just can see myself having a couple after the game or training and dont want to drive too far.

Croatia still have over 35's? They'll be good for a feed/drink etc and not that far from Holden Hill.

There is always cold beer in our fridge. We dont like to talk about the great "We Are out of Pure Blonde incident of 2008". Several bar staff have never been seen again since that riot. The "There's no Johnny Walker left" of 2009 nearly caused the club to fold.

PM me if you want more details on our O35's.

Yes, but there is NO training, and all the games are in town, so the "radius thing" doesnt come into the equation

Correct, they play in the SA Masters League - not SAASL. All matches are in the city.

We're taking things more seriously than we have for a couple years this season with pre-season starting mondays and wednesdays from the 11th of january at Hahndorf.
Been getting 30+ players out to once a week informal sessions since mid november though - my chainsmoking unfit self who hasn't kicked a ball or jogged since august not particulalry looking forward to trying to run off the pounds over the next couple months!
