Christian Vieri will wear the Atalanta jersey again after reportedly signing a one-year deal on Tuesday.
The former Azzurri striker agreed to a minimum wage contract worth just over £1,000 a month with the Bergamo outfit, where he appeared during the 1995-96 season.
The 33-year-old had already accepted a reduced £575,000 salary in return for a one-year deal with Sampdoria in July, but never joined the team for pre-season training.
His contract was then cancelled in August amid rumours that he was considering retiring from the game completely.
Vieri also offered his services to Juventus even if they showed no interest in netting the much-travelled striker.
The player is scheduled to join his new teammates on Monday as he is currently training at Milan Lab, in an attempt to fully recover from the knee injury which ruled him out of Germany 2006.
Vieri has also appeared for Torino, Pisa, Ravenna, Venezia, Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Lazio, Inter and Milan, before a brief spell at Monaco that ended with his injury in March.
