he is stating that many older players do this, they all want to go to the world cup but not play qualifiers or friendlies, they only want to play in the big tournaments, so many go into international hibernation and come out every two years for euro and world cup and expect to get picked when the new blokes have come in, done the job and hot them to the tournament in the first place
