Player available/Football Club Wanted

Post by Chris »

Hello All. I have been playing in an amateur league team for 7 years now. I am a dedicated player, not a superstar, but definitely able to play in most Saturday Division 1 first teams. I have been the fittest player at my current club each season without a doubt. I don't mention these things to sound arrogant, but do so simply to demonstrate my frustration with the club. We have between 4 and 12 people at training (between the first and reserve teams) regularly, without absent players calling (or at least messaging the coach to inform him) and it is typical for players to turn up on a Saturday for the game after a long unannounced absence. Many players are out there for themselves and do not play as a team, often overextending themselves beyond their capabilities therefore leaving those few of us (who are fit enough and dedicated enough) to cover. Individual goal tallies are the priority for these people over the success of the team and club as a whole. This behavior has been perpetuated by the fact that there is no competition for places on the team... another fundamental problem with the club.

I have been treasurer for several years, and on the committee for the duration of my time at this club and have had enough.

I am a team player, currently disillusioned by people who say that they are here to play football, but are not willing to stand by their team-mates (perhaps they are not even aware of their individualistic attitudes?!).

Please help me. If your club is of one full of players who are interested in playing football (ie as a team), players who train regularly, with a coach who rewards not only skill but discipline (ie those who train and play as a team), and is a club who is looking for a dedicated player, please respond to my message with contact details.

Thank you for your time.

Chris (A player who is looking hard for a team and a good bunch of guys)

Sounds like Chris Baxter, except the bit about 'not being a superstar', doubt he would say that!

And by the way, I didn't win players player this year..... bastards!!!, despite scoring the most goals within the club!

No, just kidding, it doesn't bother me.

I am simply looking for a club who genuinely puts their improvement and overall success first in their list of priorities... I know that it is a cliche but it is not surprising to find that within most clubs there are a bunch of egotistical tossers who want to exercise their own, individual priorities. We are talking about amateur football for f*#k sake, not professional (or even semi-decent) football leagues, one of us are great footballers. I would suggest to go an join a mixed futsal team if you want to show of to such adoring (more like disinterested) team-mates and on-lookers.

....hmm.... perhaps Dr Phil is the go!

Is it just Saturdays you are interested in or are Sundays an option?

What area are you in and looking at playing?

Are you currently a Div 1 player or just think you have the ability to play Div 1?

Have you thought of persuing a higher level of football rather than complain about the levl your at currently?

If you can't find a team would you consider quitting all together or just staying with the egotistical team your in?

Have you played for more than the one club your at now?

Did you score the most goals for your ressies or Firsts?

Don't think that's a cliche

I'm no expert, but if you have only given your current club 7 years I don't think you have really tried very hard

I have been at my club for 12 years and have always been the best and hardest working player but never receive the enormous praise that I am so obviously due, just like you it's always the selfish lazy bastards that get the goals, the votes and the girls!

BTW - that penalty miss...was in the pre-season and i was dared to try an alternative method. probably the worst one ive ever taken.
