Better team won on the day for sure
Jonesa scored a cracking goal with about 20 to go
then Toasty wrapped it up with 5 left on the clock.

Great day for the Farmers, congratulations.
Top respect for Bert and a few others including Motts who came in
to the rooms after the game and congratulated the farm on their win
when they would have been hurting.
The young boys said unto him....."go up baldhead, go up"......so he did, rose like a salmon and nodded the ball into the net......1 nil! :-)

Outvoiced, outclassed (debatable :P), outskilled and outplayed. Congratulations to all IFASC players, members & supporters today for a historical win.

Also congratulations to all other winning teams today. Kind of hard watching that reserves final though. Agreed with carra that the better teams won on the day.

Cheers to the Downs supporters including Meatloaf, the drunk cheerleader and all the other good sports.

Devo after today!

We murdered the Vikings for the first 25 minutes and were 2-0 up, and then they raped and pillaged us until the last 12 minutes when all the 'controversy' occurred and after which we played kamikaze football. We conceded about 5 minutes before half time which was a huge momentum swinger. They came out and played us off the park for the first 25 minutes or so of the second half. They had obviously gone in at half time to target two of our players specifically, and they exploited those weaknesses to go 3-2 up by the 60th minute. The game sort of petered out for a little while, and then we 'scored' an equaliser in the 78th minute. However, the linesman flagged for offside very early in the play, which the ref didn't see and let run for about a minute and a half before we scored. I've actually seen two videos of the incident and there is absolutely no doubt that the player in question was onside when the flag went up. The Vikings defender who played our guy onside even admitted to him that it was a bogus call.

We played kamikaze football searching for the equaliser, and conceded another two in the final 10 minutes. It could have been 6 or 7 the way we were playing, 1 or 2 guys at the back  A deserved win for Vikings in the end, over the full course of the game they were the better team definitely, but it would have been very interesting if it had been 3-3 with 10 to go.

I want to say thanks to all of our fans that showed up, they were excellent and stuck at it all day, even when the wheels were falling off. I'm glad they gave Vikings the respect they deserved when presented with their medals, and even gladder they gave the linesman what he deserved!!

Congrats To Simo and Ingle Farm. Were by far the better team today and were unlucky not to go into the break leading. Toasty was good today and deserved winner of the medal, Clarkie was also good along with Coxie!

A little bit over the top there with the summary..........but you won and that's all that matters in the long run.
Looking at the photos I took, Downs had 4 chances in the first half and Farm had possibly 2 chances.
Downs probably should have made a few changes before Farm scored.
Paul Jones scored in the 73rd minute and a short while later Robbie Greenwood deflected a powerful shot, Downs were overcommitted (even Benny Aldridge was near the half way line) Torsten broke free and after 2 bites of the cherry slotted home Farms second.
A dogged game that I couldn't see any light between the two teams in terms of outplayed, outclassed and outskilled until Farm scored. After that point Farm probably outvoiced the Downs !
Farm however, definitely oustscored the Downs :(

Stand out player for me was a player I've only seen once before (in the semi finals) M. Marchioro.
He seemed to be everywhere until he was substituted.
Robbie Greenwood also, did what he had to do very well.

ingle farm were too strong for the downs today, they seemed to be fitter and the downs ran out of ideas. both teams had opportunities but the farms were more regular. congratulations to simmo and the boys for a great effort, they were worthy winners on the day. farm supporters actually out sang the downs boys which was a shoch but i guess when your on top for most of the game theirs not a lot to shout about.not sure about man of the match as i thought parissa did a good job on rutter, still ref gives it i suppose, or is it the coaches that vote?.

Did not hear the Downs supporters at all on the pitch today. The Farmy Army were brilliant today and never stopped singing. Regardless of what anybody says the Farm dominated the game and where the only team who deserved the win. The Downs on the back foot all day and never really in the game.

Thanks to Andy, Graysie and all the supporters who sang and cheered all day and late into the night.

Go you Farmers, great way to finish off.

Farm deserved the win yesterday, looked alot sharper in there warm up and it showed on the pitch.
Greenwood(I think) made a cracker of save late in the second to keep farm 1 nil up.

And Well in for the farm supports(Farmy Army) Who were loud all day and really gave it to the downs supporters who were un heared off 8)

Swanny

Farm comfortably the better team yesterday, Downs only got close with the shot that Robbie Greenwood battered away. They deserved the win contrary to whatever you say on here.

Farm supporters brilliant in the stands... how could we forget.. Didn't here us until we went in front ?? Find that a bit far fetched and all.

"CENNNNNNTRE-LIIIIIIINNNNK"

"THERE'S ONLY ONE ROBBIE GREENWOOD"

"KNOCK KNOCK"

 Brilliant fellas

Well done Simo and Leggy, and poo, I owe Torsten $50 for scoring - but its not as bad as what KingHenrik owes him

Thanks for being good sports after the game Billy and the Coaches. Well done lads

Im not sure how old you are swanny or you just have selective hearing but the only time the iggies supports popped up is when thier team scored........

Farm were chanting the entire game mate :!: :!:

By the way, did think Benny D had the best of games, he was a bit slow to the ball for the first goal, and to go up for the corner when your not the tallest of people and leave the goal unattended with 6mins plus stoppage time to go.......Spose thats the sought of risk you take in a final, make or break.......BREAK

You turn your hearing aid off after the Ressies cup final Swanny. The Farm supporters did not stop singing all game, from the pitch they were all you could hear.

Great day yesterday which went long into this morning.

Big thanks to everyone that turned up to support us, from the pitch it looked like the Farm supporters seemed to out number the Downs for once. Certainly did vocally.

It was great to see Burts, Motts and Steedy come into our change room after the game to congrates us, just shows how professional and humble you were after defeat, you’re a credit to the Downs... not sure how you boys got those beers though!!!!
