Cup Final Predictions

Post by Jay Walking »

1st Team
Elizabeth Downs V Ingle Farm
Of course I'm going to go with the Farm. It will be great for the guys to play on a flat pitch and they will enjoy the space. It will be a very tight game and I think which ever team can control the midfield will win the game. Will be interesting to see which team takes their chances as both of us have a reputation for not scoring goals that we should. I'm going with 3-2 to the Farm given that we hold the Rite Price Cup at the moment :D

Reserves
Vikings V Iggies
I saw a few passages of play by the Vikings and they looked solid. Iggies pace up front may worry them but Vikings quaility in the midfield should see them win 2-0

Over 35's
Westies v Celtic
Hard to see Westies getting beat. They have been around the top in the old boys league for the last two years. With the top up of some useful C team players, I would think they will win 4-1

Under 18
Ingle Farm v Tea Tree Gully
Wouldn't have a clue but I'll go with the Farmers again

Hopefully the weather stays good and a big crowd turns out. The biggest game in our clubs history so hopefully its a big night back at Walkley Park. I'm really looking forward to the day and the game. Nothing better than knocking off the big clubs to win trophies.

A's - Farm - 3-2 - On penalties, Can't see Ben conceding in normal time and can't see the Downs breaking Down a solid Farm backline.
Key to this one - Midfield Control
Player to watch - C. Ennis

B's - Vikings - 5-1 - Vikings will use the big pitch to knock the ball about and Emilov will have a day out with a hatty. Iggies will look at pumping the ball long and hoping kitchimo can contain any Vikings attack.
Key to this one - Experience
Player to watch - Alexander Emilov

35's - Westies - 2-0 - Celtics will have their work cut out for them against a quality Westies side that has been a front runner in the O/35's Division.
Key to this one - Possession
Player to watch - God Knows

U/18's - Farm - 3-2 - TTG have a very good development history with players moving into federation or first team amatuers, but the quality of some of the colts we received from Ingle farm last year was head and shoulders above any I have seen in a long time, one who will be playing in the first team on Sunday.
Key to this one - Goals
Player to watch - All of them

How is that for a Prediction Jay??? :D

Reminds me of the old Rod Stewart song Maggie May.

"Wake up Maggie, I think I've got something to say to you.
We're not going to Hindmarsh, it's because of you.
All you did was raise an arm,
Leaving Knights with 10 at the Farm.
Oh Maggie I wish your elbow hadn't gone astray...."

oh "that" elbow has come out again??

it was there, the red was deserved, thats football, who knows whether that was game defining, but certainly did play a part,

Many sides have a "hard luck" story somewhere, teams lose on penalties, goals unfairly being called offside (that did happen in the Knights Farm game in Knights favour) - who knows if that stood?

Sorry wolverine, MATTY6 was talking about wishes.
The "we're not going to Hindmarsh because of you" is a running joke with Maggie.
At least Simmo had the balls to say there wasn't much in it in Maggies defence....history now...thanks for all the fish.

Two of the most respected clubs playing in the final. Will be a good game. Not great, cause we're not playin, but a good one :D I have total respect for these two clubs, the way they are run (committee), coaches, and players involved. (we better mention i respect the Gardens as well as don't want Lefty kicking s--t in the wind
But all seriousness, good luck to simmo, jay and farm players and Bert, mottsy and downs players. All top blokes who deserve something for the year and i really don't want to pick a winner here.
Either way, see some of you at the presentation night where we can slam a few bevies down and talk about the year past and the year coming.
and to put rumours to rest, was thinking of retiring but a week ahs gone past and i'm already bored! SSSHHHHHHH don't tell the Mrs. Think a divorce is on the cards come February :D
Good Luck to all!
