Who? Will lift the CUP... Ronaldo or Messi.........

Post by TOPGUNJIMMYAUFC »

The notion goes that whomever comes out on top - Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi - then the World's best player tag is automatically theirs.

Cristiano is on the throne currently, but he says retaining his crown will not be his motivation in front of a packed Stadio Olimpico crowd on Wednesday. Believe it or not, his aim is shared glory.

“Whoever wins the final will have a better chance [of winning the award]," Ronny said. "But I don’t care about that, what I want is to win the Champions League – that’s it. Some players in my team have played fantastic football this season - they deserve it.”

Ronaldo is aware that the TV cameras and photographers' lenses will focus on him all night, but it's a pressure he's learned to live with. “It’s normal for people to talk about me," he says. "I’m 100 per cent focused on the game. I try to help my team, I will try to score and win the game.

"It's a great stadium. I feel very good to play here. I’ve played here a few times and, in my opinion, I played well. I have to play well now. The pitch, the stadium, the fans… they’re amazing; I look forward to playing here and winning. It’s going to be special.”

One for all, not all for one
“Whoever wins the final will have a better chance of being World Player of the Year. But I don’t care about that, what I want is to win the Champions League – that’s it."

If Ronaldo can't play well against a severely weakened Barca, then i think you can safely say Messi is doing alot better. Messi showed in the Chelsea game that as much as you strangle him you need only give him one opportunity. Ronaldo has shown in years past that once you frustrate him he panics, i hope he doesn't but i can just see Toure and Puyol hitting him hard and causing him to hesitate.

All things considered, i wouldn't want to be Valdes if Man U get a free kick in a scoring position.

I hope neither choke and it's 3 - 3 with 20 minutes to go. 1 - 0 won't surprise me though. Neither will 3 - 0 to Man U.

It's a complete and ridiculous attempt at a joke if Messi doesn't win it, skill wise Messi is far superior to Ronaldo in everything except distance shooting.

I don't believe Ronaldo for a second.

He wants to win the Champions League to help his changes of him getting footballer of the year.

Has Messi ever scored a header in a match?

For you Joker, I felt for you as soon as he scored that this morning. My first thought was to shout, and the second was thinking of how quickly i could find this and upload it.

Has Messi ever scored a header in a match?[/quote]

he has now.

And I believe the Messi vs Ronaldo argument is laid to rest.

Ronaldo hammered SAF's tactics in the post match press conference so expect the rumour mill to be full steam ahead now with reports of him going to Madrid.

For once i agree with Ronaldo though ( I am sticking up for him for once i know!). Hiddink showed that you need to push Barca wide and isolate their front three. Ferguson showed what happens when you don't do that. Barca probably would have scored more had they not been content with just keeping the ball.

Messi has to be player of the year now, Drogba will hpoefully win the Zidane award for dummy spit of the year.

F*uck that, Ronaldo can stay put, i'd rather Ribery, Ribery at least has a future, Ronaldo, well I'm fairly certain he's never going to beat scoring 42 goals in a season. Ribery can become one of the next Balon D'or's/FIFA World Player of the Year. Also Ribery would be cheaper and it must be known that if you say to no to Madrid once, you better be sure about it because they won't come knocking again (which is not what has happened recently). We're rumoured to have a 300 million euro transfer kitty so how does this sound?

Ribery - 65 million
Kaka - 65 million
Villa - 50 million
Silva - 30 million
Clichy/Lahm - 30 million
Also bring in players like Granero, Mata and Negredo

Make room for them by offloading

Salgado
Van Nistelrooy
Drenthe (loan)
De La Red
Gago
Saviola
Cannavaro
Guti

So the squad would be:

GK Casillas, Dudek, Codina
RB Sergio Ramos, Miguel Torres
CB Metzelder, Pepe, Garay, Javi Garcia
LB Clichy/Lahm, Heinze
CDM Lass, Diarra
RM Ribery, Silva, Sneijder
LM Robben, Marcelo
CAM Kaka, Van der Vaart, Granero, Mata, Parejo
ST Raul, Villa, Higuain, Huntelaar, Negredo

Sorry probably should of started a new thread for this but what do you think anyway?
