FFSA Women's Football Game of the Month

Post by SpazzTic »

The Football Federation SA Women's Football Game of the Month is proudly brought to you by Adelaide Airport.

This year the FFSA will be hosting a double header of games featuring teams from the two top divisions of the women’s competition. The early match will feature the two top teams from Division One, Pink Panthers and Flinders University.

The Pink Panthers have risen to high levels in the last couple of years making their way through the junior divisions and lower divisions of women’s football to currently be on top of Division One and the possibility of promotion into the Premier Division in 2010. Their opponents in this game, Flinders University are only one win behind and a win in this game will catapult them to the top of the division.

The Adelaide Airport Premier Division Game to follow will feature reigning Premier League Champions, Sturt Marion and Premier Division Cup Winners, MUWFC Magic.

The fortunes of these two teams have turned around in 2009, with MUWFC Magic having a very strong start to the season and only one point separates them from the league leaders, Adelaide City.

Sturt Marion has had an inconsistent start to the season and is struggling to regain the form that made them so successful in 2009.

The dynamic pace of Donna Cockayne, in addition to the silky skills of Lauren Chilvers and Marie Spagnoletti accompanied by the strength and power of Ebony Weidenbach will make MUWFC Magic a very difficult opponent for the under strength Sturt Marion team.

maybe they just expect us to rock up at that time every night until we actually get it right...
or maybe the whole lack of supplying the date is why theres so many refs not rocking up on sundays?

didn't someone suggest this exact thing in one of the other threads? A game of the week double header at Santos, good on the bright spark that suggested it and on FFSA for implementing it.

Friday night Metro vs Sturt at Santos! :D
Hope it's gonna be a good game and many ppl turn up!

As for the game...too much difference between the teams. I think Metro will dominate and easily win, especially if Sturt can't field a full team.

is something happening with sturt this year?
as far as i was aware they didn't lose many players from last year, so what's up with that?

I know, they only changed a couple of players but they seem to struggle to field competitive teams. They have some awesome players but they don't always play...

I wonder if Sturt can step up for the game at Santos, otherwise it's gonna be like the pre-season cup when Metro walked all over them. I remember that game at Marden, Sturt missed some players and Metro won very easily and could have scored much more too. Metro is good, fair enough, but you would expect more from Sturt IMO. Like couple of weeks back when they lost 8-1 to City...

Might I suggest everyone get there for the early match and see the two teams most likely to join you in the Prem. next season . WHEN the Pink Panthers win , they'll be 8 points clear at the top :D :D

I agree with the first sentence; however the second may be a bit optimistic considering Flinders is the only team to have already beaten the Panthers this season.
I imagine it will be a very competitive match between two top teams. I hope that there will be lots of supporters to cheer everyone on.

GO FLAMES!!!

Yeah our keeper is pretty awesome for a first year player!
Having specialist keeper coaches at Flinders has really helped us this year.
