League One Thread ( aka - Millwall v Scunthorpe - final )

Post by swannsong »

Both top placed Leicester City -38pts (at home to 11th placed Southend United - 27pts) and second placed Milton Keynes Dons - 37pts (at home to 6th placed Scunthorpe United - 33pts ) have difficult games tonight.
Millwall - 36pts (in 3rd place) host Bristol Rovers - 22pts (15th placed) and hopefully will take all 3 pts to repay Huddersfield for knocking off Leeds a few weeks ago !

now you have me intrigued.

You've stayed very quiet if i do actually know you. My first guess would have to be, do you have a son called Thomas?

If that's a yes then i congratulate you, becaus you're a clever bloke who has persuaded me you're thick as two short planks.

I think he's saying him opening a thread on Millwall shows he has interest is no different to you opening a thread on Celtic suggesting you have an interest in them.

Millwall "Rovers" were founded by the workers of J.T. Morton in Millwall in the East End of London on the Isle of Dogs in 1885. J.T. Morton was first founded in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1849 to supply sailing ships with food. They opened their first English cannery and food processing plant on the Isle of Dogs at the Millwall dock in 1870, and attracted a workforce from across the whole of the country, including the East Coast of Scotland who were predominantly Dundee Dockers.

Originally nicknamed The Dockers, they changed the nickname after being referred to as "Lions" for their acts of giant killing in their FA Cup run of 1900, when they reached the semi final. They adopted a lion emblem, and the motto: We Fear No Foe Where E'er We Go. The emblem, however, was not added to their shirts until 1936.

My father came here for work when I was in high school. Then after that I went to China and Japan. Came back here. I used to joke that if the wind blew I'd move in that direction.

the 07/08 away shirt has "We Fear No Foe" embroidered on the bottom of the back.

Translator, losers have the fear of failure. Millwall will fail and fail again without fear, but unlike you and yogi, they are not losers.

Biggest rep? Not sure what your on about.

You can't be talking about on the field because as far as your rep on the pitch I wouldn't even know what div you play in, lost track of the lower leagues after the EPL came in. Was all to easy when it was numbered.

Maybe your boasting about signing Carl Veart :?

The EPL is full of bandwagoner fans and bandwagoner players and businessmen playing monopoly with football teams !

True loyalty is sticking with a Club (usually birthplace) despite their difficulties, despite their languishing in the lower divisions, despite their inability to buy whom ever they want....
I can't speak for Millwall, but I've stuck with Huddersfield Town over the years and so have ~15-20000 fans.
We've had very little to sing about, who cares....you look at most of the EPL teams and they lack hardly any local content...what's their to be proud of in that ?
The best thing is seeing one of the lads from the Huddersfield Football Academy graduate to the 1st Team or beyond !
We even gave up Bill Shankly to Liverpool....and kick started Arsenal with Herbert Chapman.

We are the biggest small club in the world. Everybody knows us we're called Millwall. You shouldn't have heard of us, but you have.

As for Carl Veart, shit at Millwall, shit at city. He was voted the worst player to ever wear a Millwall shirt.
