Torino - Lazio

Post by Piola »

So tomorrow night this game will take a step backwards for the glory of the Madonnina, the scond biggest derby in Serie A and the best in the world in terms of footballing quality.

Will Torino bounce back from their loss to Inter and disappointing point on the road at Chievo?? Will Lazio's super attack, one of Europe's best, be too strong for the Granata?? If this was at the real Olimpico, I wouldn't question a Lazio win, but the Biancocelesti are shiiiiite on the road, and this could come into play.

Last season both games ended equal, 2-2 in Roma in the season opener with Toro being denied a win after a Marco Ballotta howler was strangely disallowed. There wont be a repeat of that though, as "il nonno" has been replaced in the sticks by Juanpi Carrizo, one of the world's best shotstoppers. Return was 0-0 in Torino.

Il Toro can't call upon Aimo Diana and Alessandro Rosina, thanks t suspension and injury, and this makes the job a bit easier for the boys in blue. For Lazio, Tommaso Rocchi could make his return from injury off the bench. No Ousmane Dabo, Francelino Matuzalem or Simone Del Nero to choose from. Delio Rossi will not change the 11 from the side which pumped Fiorentina midweek leaving:

-------------Carrizo
Lichti---Siviglia---Cribari----Radu
----Brocchi--Ledesma---Mauri
------------Foggia
--------Zarate----Pandev

Personally if not Inter than Lazio

hahaha nah, not at all, the Lazio Scudetto bandwagon has extreme shades of the Sicilian bandwagon of 2006, remember Palermo, Messina and Catania all in the top 5. Where did that end up?

Our backline is worse than Milan and Roma's so that already rules us out of a Scudetto hunt, then the lack of depth compared to those sides..

but who can deny the strength of the Lazio attack, seriously??

4th is the goal. Lotito and Zarate getting ahead of themselves. We laziali have delusions of grandeur atm.

I wouldn't go throwing the towel to early, you have a massive squad, no European commitments are more importantly none of the big sides have played with any real dominance...yet. Also have Rocchi to return.

Come January if Lazio are around the mark, Lotito would have to be tempted to invest in what may be required, he could also use the massive squad as trade options. If he does that successfully, with the big sides being tied up in Europe for at least Feb-March and possibly further. Doing a Verona is still a possibility.

However games like tonight v Torino away will show were Lazio are at.

Lotito will almost always take the safe option. He didn't invest when we qualified for the CL, would he really invest on an unlikely Scudetto bid?? What we need is a solid central defender and a destroyer in midfield.

I don't see any reason why we can't work towards one though, like Fiorentina seem to be doing. Maybe it'll come earlier than we expect like it did for the Hawks.

Still, I think Inter will be too good.

So do I but our midfield worries me, injuries to Cambiasso and Muntari and we could be in trouble, especially as Mourinho will focus on CL 1st. So never say never.

Lotito did ok with Zarate & Carrizo, plus he got shafted by players not willing to leave.

Burdisso or Rivas could be up for a loan or buy come January, Ferrari would have been gold but being ex-Roma....

If it somehow happened, I still wouldn't be satisfied cause lets be honest, you team wins a miracle Scudetto, where would you rather be - in Circo Massimo partying with tens of thosuands of laziali for at least a week straight, or somewhere in Adelaide at 4AM??

Lets make this a trial run, Scudetto 2009-10

That's why you have an emergency stash of cash just in case you need a quick visit

Fortunately for me I had 18 years worth of savings :P Being a Laziale you can't afford to miss out on any of them

Bianchi eyes Lazio revenge Saturday 27 September, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rolando Bianchi is eager to take revenge on Lazio and President Claudio Lotito. “I knew after a month they wouldn’t keep me.”

The former Manchester City striker had been close to Torino in January, but opted for the Biancocelesti instead because they offered him the option of a permanent move.

However, after six months the club pulled the plug and he returned to Eastlands, completing his switch to the Granata this summer.

“Did I suffer when Lazio didn’t renew my deal? Barely, because I’d already figured out after a month how it was going to end…”

President Lotito piled on the pressure this week by stating Bianchi “added no real quality” to his Lazio side.

“That’s not my problem. In my six months at Lazio, I gave everything to do well and I am proud of that, looking back.

“I am not interested in what Lotito thinks, nor do his words hurt me. I say that with the utmost respect, but Lazio is in the past now.

“I have nothing to prove to anyone. This remains an important game and we will try to win, even though it’ll be tough.”

Bianchi faced another of his old clubs last week and said he would refuse to celebrate if he scored against Reggina.

“Obviously I’ll celebrate if I score against Lazio, as it would be a lack of respect towards the Toro fans if I didn’t,” noted the striker.

“Against Reggina I would not have celebrated, but there were more sentimental ties there…”

heh, yea Bianchi. Sounds like bitterness that you weren't considered value for money at Formello, and the man who replaced you has now become an integral part of Italy's best attack.

You're nothing Rolando, not even a cap to your name.

Here is the main one -

OH! GRANATA TOPO DI FOGNA
DI TORINO SEI LA VERGOGNA
LA VOSTRA MASSIMA ASPIRAZIONE
FESTEGGIARE LA PROMOZIONE
NOI IN EUROPA GIOCHIAM LONTANO
VOI AL MASSIMO AD ORBASSANO
DA TROPPI ANNI CERCATE GLORIA
SOLO SUPERGA VI HA FATTO STORIA
QUANDO TORNI DAL PURGATORIO
SOGNI SEMPRE ACQUISTI D’ORO
MA ALLA FINE LA STORIA VERA
CHE TURIN ALE’ BIANCA E NEIRA.

And then it tends to break into a TORO MERDA E ALE' TORO MERDA E ALE'

I prefer hearing these chants in Torino :P
"Solo rubare, sapete solo rubare"

"E' lunedì che umiliazione
andare in fabbrica al servizio del padrone
Oh Juventino, succhiapiselli
di tutta quanta la famiglia Agnelli
E Juve merda, Juve Juve merda"

"Merda si nasce, juventino si diventa"

"Uno juventino in croce
gridava ad alta voce:
o mamma mamma mia
di chi sono figlio io?
e la su mamma a terra
alsando la sottana:
Oh juventino mio
sei figlio di puttana!"
but my personal favourites:
"In Italia siete milioni
a Torino quattro coglioni"

"Andate tutti a Palermo"

that song btw was like a 70s pop song, now every team has turned it into a hate chant for their rivals. hilarious.

 quality

what about

Tutta l'italia lo saaaaa
come faceva a rubare
usava il suo cellulare
Moggi chiamava
e Carraro rispondeva
"Non c'è problema, comandiamo io e te!"
