Sat Div 2 relegation,
With 4 teams getting relegated this year its all looking very tight for that last relegation spot. 3 teams currently sit on 30 points (which would have got you 3rd place in div 1) Breakers look safe because of goal difference which means Budapest and MA Hawks are the two teams in trouble, both teams have -5 goal difference but Budapest still have one game to play, does anybody know who that game is against?? surely MA Hawks will make sure it gets played as this game will either save or relegate them.

I understand that, but 30 points is a decent amount to go down with. If hawks do go down they would have gone from missing promotion by one place last year to relegation this year.

Re: Sat Div 2 relegation,
I got no idea, im sure Sturt Marion couldn't be bothered playing it, i guess its up to the league to make sure it goes ahead. If i played for the Hawks i would make sure it got played. 1 other thing, if comets change leagues, maybe they will only relegate 3teams?? who knows

Re: Sat Div 2 relegation,
The next 2 after Comets will go up.
Precedent has been set from other divisions.
Relegated teams still go down.

Re: Sat Div 2 relegation,
That won't happen, as per previous years - four teams will still be relegated, and if there any shortages then extra team or teams will be promoted.ramosrules wrote:I got no idea, im sure Sturt Marion couldn't be bothered playing it, i guess its up to the league to make sure it goes ahead. If you're going to commit to the league you should play every fixture.ramosrules wrote:I got no idea, im sure Sturt Marion couldn't be bothered playing it
Re: Sat Div 2 relegation,
I just found out that the Sturt Marion v Budapest game will be played this Saturday 12.30pm. What are the league thinking? Don't they realise that this Saturday is one of the biggest days on the Australian sporting calender? This game had the potential to attract a lot of people to the game but will now be played in front of a few seagulls and a couple of the Budapest faithful. I wouldn't be surprised if Sturt Marion didn't even rock up to the game. With BBQ's starting at 11.00 and the beers flowing shortly after, why on earth would the Sturt Marion boys want to play this fixture on this day? Piss poor timing by the league and if I were associated to the MA Hawks, I would be felt harshly done by.

Re: Sat Div 2 relegation,
Post count of one to post that sort of suggests that you might be. Having said that I think all catchup matches should have been played prior to the final round of matches. The league has only enforced this on Bosna and Croatia by the sounds of it.streets wrote:if I were associated to the MA Hawks, I would be felt harshly done by.
Re: Sat Div 2 relegation,
No Bodo, no connection to the Hawks, but I was keen to see a good game. I think these catch up games as you suggested should be played before the season ends. Obviously this wasn't the case with this particular game. Usually they play Wednesday night fixtures although I'll be off to Hindmarsh tonight so I'm glad it wasn't tonight. What about a Tuesday night or a Thursday night game at Grange? Sounds better than playing during the AFL Grand Final. Oh well, if it's Saturday then Saturday it is.

Re: Sat Div 2 relegation,
We played two years ago on grand final day and had two full teams, all im saying is that while Budapest are playing to stay up Sturt are already league champions and playing for nothing on grand final day to boot, if i was Budapest this is the 2nd best decision (after Sturt forfeiting) for the league to have come to.Bodø Glimt wrote:If you're going to commit to the league you should play every fixture.ramosrules wrote:I got no idea, im sure Sturt Marion couldn't be bothered playing it

My information from a Budapest palyer was that the game was to be played tonight. Obviously something has happened to change this.

It means if a club commits to the season it should play every tie.
I hope Sturt doesn't forfiet.

We play football, if people can't be bothered playing because of some minority sports final then i pity the game in this country. It will never grow while people have that attiude.
As for biggest game on the sporting calendar, tell that to people in NSW, Q'land and NT who couldn't care less about it.

At a committee level mind you.

Re: Sat Div 2 relegation,
From what I have heard the Sturt boys are definitely playing on Saturday and are keen for the win. With the timing of the game some of them can still make it to AFL bbqs afterwards. The thought of MA Hawks going down though after the disgrace of a game I saw against Sturt (referee did all he could to make Sturt drop points) I am sure has got the Sturt guys thinking of a draw perhaps anyway!! At the end of the day it shouldnt come down to other teams results to keep you up - need to earn your own points I say!!

Never been involved on a committee. How it's relevant I don't know but any club owes it to its sponsors and every other team in their division to fullfill their fixtures.Pale Pathetic Germs wrote:sorry about the name editation - I thought I'd bring myself down to a level you'd understand

Re: Sat Div 2 relegation,
Forfeiting should be an absolute last resort for a club. We had a catch-up game with Macoes on the Sunday after the season had finished, and had our presentation the night before. We still managed to pull two full squads, and had guys missing out that were keen to play. I would rather play two games than see my club forfeit a fixture.

Re: Sat Div 2 relegation,
I have to work this saturday and the next, but after that I'll go on to a roster that gives me saturday off. Saturday morning is when we do our shopping so I doubt I can make it. I might be able to make the Iggies' catch up game that day but I don't know for sure.Bitter1 wrote:Question now Bodø is are you going to commit to watching the game??

Re: Sat Div 2 relegation,
It is relevant Bodo because you come on here and profess to know everything.
Yet you have never been involved in a club before at an administration level.
I agree that forfeiting should be a last resort.
But in saying this you and anyone for that matter do not know the circumstances of each individual club.
Each club must protect its own interests and whilst weighing up its obligations to the league et al it must do what is best for itself.

I have never professed to know everything. If I commit to a team I would expect them and their opposition to show up for every tie, which i think is all I really said.Paleon Patros Germanos wrote:It is relevant Bodø because you come on here and profess to know everything.

Re: Sat Div 2 relegation,
I agree with Bodo, no forfeits regardless.
Should/is unwritten law at most clubs, you don't need to know everything or be involved in a club to understand this.
Your all missing the point, the fundamental problem is the SAASL administration.
A) Should have been played within 2 weeks of the miss game, not whenever, I can't even find literature telling me when a game needs to be re-scheduled to. Should be clear.
B) Re-schedule it on AFL grand final, why not its not a big event. The boys down the league will be at home having a hot cup of coco. Do the A Leauge schedule games during the AFL grand final?
C) Why not see if there are any FFSA players, willing to register with Sturt, to fill there void, don't think they'll be knocked back registration.
You see where the problem is.
