Re: just wondering about promotions
I think you are asking if your team age group wins the A's but the year ahead of you finishes bottom of the A's , do you stay up or get relegated !
Now that we have the question sorted out can someone provide an answer...

In my playing days you would stay up and I am pretty sure the same thing happens today.

Re: just wondering about promotions
That is correct - the team would continue to stay in the A group ( eg 17s) as the teams are selected on the group rankings ( A, B, C group) at the end of the season of the prior age division ( eg15's) of the previous year.zizou#10 wrote:In my playing days you would stay up and I am pretty sure the same thing happens today.

last year toros under 15s won the b league while toros 17s got relegated from the bs..but they continued to stay in the bs this season so but the toros 17s this year were meant to be in the as so it goes by age group

If your 14Bs team won their comp they move to 15As for the next season
It dont matter if the 15s that year come bottom or not.

Re: just wondering about promotions
that is correct, if a team finishes bottom then their next year as a team will be in the lower grade/division.
Assuming there is a 'lower' division.
Ie. If the 15's finish bottom there may not be a 16B's . . . yet.
The U16's is split into two groups, North & South, this year. I think the directive is for all Federation clubs to have an U16's by 2009 or 2010.
Not sure though if a team can request a lower division though; Eg. Lose a lot of 'key' players and know they are not going to be strong enough to hold their own. In E & D i believe a club could 'request' a lower division.

Re: just wondering about promotions
I'm not 100% sure, but I think last year's Toros 15s were in the top 2 of the B div and declined an A grade spot in this year's 17s due to player movements, promotions to 19's, etc. If I remember correctly, ABE came third and were offered the 2nd promotion spot.Barney Rubble wrote:that is correct, if a team finishes bottom then their next year as a team will be in the lower grade/division.

What happens if a team in the 16s (e.g Sturt who are 4th or something in SW) do not have a 15s team, what league will they be placed in the 17s? A's B's or C's?
Because isn't it your 15s league position that reflects what league you are in in the 17s and not your 16s league position?
Hope that made sense

I think the top half of each U16's league will be reviewed and go U17a's and you will need to recruit well for your next year to fill an U16's team to fall in line with the planned U16's for the following year.
Teams that do well in the U15's this year will probably be reviewed for 17's in comparison with the top two halves of this years U16's league.
Bear in mind clubs in the U16's this year may decide not to go again with the 16's if they do not have the players.
Phew
My thoughts anyway

IpswichTown1878:
The 2009 U17A league will be determined on the results and placement of the current U15A league and who finishes 1st and 2nd from the U15B league. What happens in the current 2008 U16 North and South league is irrelevant.
Scenario:
Blue Eagles U 16 is placed 4th in the North league. However due to their U15A squad sitting bottom of the ladder they will not receive representation in the 09 U17 A league.
South Adelaide currently 2nd in the U 16 South league, but their U15B cannot gain promotion. So will not receive representation in the 09 U17 A league.
This is a harsh outcome for both the current B-E U16 and S-Ad 16 squads.
U15 A League teams currently fighting non representation to U17A 2009
MetroStars 15 4 4 7 30 37 -7 16
